I am but one
but not the only one
I am one witness
but not the only witness
against intolerance, injustice, and hate
and because I have seen
the ways of evil
and how it festers and grows
silence is not
can no longer be
an option
I am one voice
but not the only voice
I am one
among many
a gathering force of consciousness
shining a light on truth
perhaps action does speak
louder than words but inaction speaks
loudest of all and so
when those very first seeds of bias are sown
I will be a witness and a voice
and a stand against ignorance and indifference
the grotesque and insidious
enemies of us all
I am one
and not the only one
I myself
and not only myself
can be a source of the change
I wish to see
from the heart, mind, and pen of Minx Boren
Good Morning Minx, Thank you for your inspiration message. I just finished an article and was debating about sending it out. In some corners it will be controversial but “I am one witness but not the only witness against intolerance, injustice, and hate.” So, I will send my article, “Spiritual Ignorance: America’s Downfall?” to Dennis. We all have a voice and need to listen to each other, even if we disagree. Stephanie Mann
Bring it on, Stephanie – because all voices matter…
Good for you Stephanie. I look forward to reading it!
And here’s Stephanie’s latest for you, Minx: https://www.bizcatalyst360.com/spiritual-ignorance-americas-downfall/
Thank you Dennis for posting this. I remember when I first wrote this poem, pouring my heart onto the page in a moment of grief and rage….trying to figure out how to BE in the midst of all that was happening. I am forever grateful for the gift of poetry as a way to get at the root of a feeling, an idea, a prayer, a dilemma…and anything else churning around within me.
Your words are powerful, my friend. We are honored to share them with the universe.
