Hey there! I’ve had several business/social events these past few months, and with my hectic travel schedule, and despite my love for cooking and my passion for food, I find myself saying, “I’ll bring the wine.” Why? Because it’s simple. It’s easy. And it saves me from having to over-think-it:
Is anybody allergic to anything?
Anybody on a special diet?
Anybody going to eat this dessert I apparently wasted 3 hours of my life making??!!
You can’t really screw up a good bottle of vino, and if it doesn’t get opened, who cares, you know the host gonna enjoy it later. Or it’ll get re-gifted. All good. Zero stress. Efficient use of MY time.
Brilliant leaders often have 40,000 things in their top five To-Do List. Sometimes, we need to keep it simple. We don’t always need to over-think-it. Sometimes, we need to make it easy… on ourselves, so we can channel our energies on the initiatives that are far more demanding of our time & talent. The initiatives that drive our business forward faster. The initiatives that we can’t delegate.
Where might you need to “bring the wine” this week?
What, where or how might you simplify so you can focus more on what matters?
And of course, by all means, if you want to make a chocolate-mousse cake from scratch, knock yourself out – I will eat it! But there are already some scandaliciously good-lookin’ brownies in the bakery if you still insist on signing up for dessert. Just sayin’.
Me? I’m bringing the wine this week. … I’ll even offer to uncork it.
