How to Shift Your Mindset and Choose Your Future

When it comes to big life problems, we often stand at a crossroads: either believe we’re powerless against great change, or we rise to meet the challenge. In an urgent call to action, political strategist Tom Rivett-Carnac makes the case for adopting a mindset of “stubborn optimism” to confront climate change — or whatever crisis may come our way — and sustain the action needed to build a regenerative future. As he puts it: “Stubborn optimism can fill our lives with meaning and purpose.”

CONVERSATIONS

  1. Being an optimist means thinking, feeling and living in an atmosphere of positivity. In addition, this type of attitude is very useful in stress management, it is the key that allows you to identify strengths even in particularly negative situations and, reversing the perspective, still manage to take advantage of it. But the tendency to see everything in a positive perspective, up to the excess, leads the optimist to avoid and negate negative and painful components.
Pain, sadness, are necessary feelings that must not be replaced but must be lived, felt and elaborated.
You don’t have to hide them under the carpet of optimism, otherwise, soon, that carpet will be so full that it will seem to take flight! Emotions, of any nature, must be lived and accepted. We must learn to “be in the emotion” to live it otherwise we will not only lose the educational value but will re-emerge domineering at the next opportunity.
