Ever wonder where your time is best spent when you want to make a job change or strategic career move?

Here’s the short and sweet of social media platforms: Facebook is about your personal brand and identity; Twitter is about stuff happening – events, announcements, or fast breaking news; and LinkedIn is by far the best channel for engaging with people and organizations that could potentially hire you.

With more than 450 million users, LinkedIn is THE formidable professional networking platform.  If you’re interested in looking for a new job, it is an amazing job board and search engine.  Here are four LinkedIn job statistics that support the power of the business social media giant:

  1. LinkedIn has 6.5 million active job listings.
  2. Keeping your positions up to date in your LinkedIn profile makes you 18 times more likely to be found in searches by members and recruiters.
  3. 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to vet candidates.
  4. 48% of recruiters only use LinkedIn for social outreach.

In my video, I will show you how to let recruiters know you are looking for a job.

But first, make sure your profile is totally buffed out.  Your summary needs to be 2,000 characters with spaces (approximately 300 words) written in the first person.  Include what sets you apart from others with the same skill sets.  In the experience section, cover each of your jobs with introduction text and bullet points about your responsibilities and successes.
