And it's not your typical run-of-the-mill everyday event crammed with stages, keynote speeches, team-building exercises, PowerPoint presentations, and all the other conventional humdrum. Because it's up close & personal by design. Where conversation trumps presentation. And where authentic connection runs deep.

How Do You Stop Swimming Upstream?

When you push against what isn’t wanted. When you talk about, obsess over, examine and try to create ways to avoid what you don’t want, you’ve successfully activated the law of attraction to bring you more of everything you don’t desire. In other words, you’re swimming upstream in the hopes of finding a pile of hidden gems, a treasure of what is wanted. Unfortunately, you’ll never find what you do want by trying to avoid what you don’t want.

When you’re traveling in sync with your highest good, you’re aligned with the Divine and heading automatically toward all that you desire

Instead, of practicing avoidance behavior, it’s time for you to turnaround and go with the flow. When you’re traveling in sync with your highest good, you’re aligned with the Divine and heading automatically toward all that you desire. There won’t be any pushing against or fighting off what’s coming at you. When you’re allowing yourself to flow with your guidance, you won’t have to search for treasure, you’ll walk right to it.  When you’re focused on what you don’t want to the exclusion of what you do want, the only attraction point you have active is, the attraction point for what’s not wanted, this is what is meant by swimming upstream.

It may sound exciting, courageous and interesting to be at odds with the forces of darkness

If you want life to become easier, to start making sense and to give you more of what you do want, then you have to align yourself with your highest good instead of pitting yourself against the darkness. It may sound exciting, courageous and interesting to be at odds with the forces of darkness. To be struggling against those who are malevolent, it may even make you think of yourself as a hero and trick you into believing that fighting against something will repair, restore and renew your damaged self-image. That it will take your sense of value and worth that’s become weakened by your life experiences and give it a new sense of purpose. The dark aspects that you’re giving your attention to so ardently, are powerless. They’re unable to give you anything except more of what they are: darkness, despair, desperation, and defeat.

When you begin a campaign to annihilate the darkness by spending every minute focused on how to defeat it, you’re giving all of your energy, attention and focus to swimming upstream and away from your desired result.

Darkness has only the power you assign it and it can give you only the value you perceive it to have.

It’s impossible to talk, think or relate to what you don’t want in any way without receiving it

What you focus upon becomes strengthened. What you give your attention to becomes greater and that which you continue to feed with your words and emotion becomes all you can and will ever experience until you change your point of focus. It’s impossible to talk, think or relate to what you don’t want in any way without receiving it. When you allow it to be your point of focus, you guarantee it will be your point of attraction.

Make a commitment, a promise to yourself to take positive action every day

So what are you to do when all you can see is what’s wrong? How do you stop swimming upstream, stop traveling the wrong way down a one-way street and stop shooting yourself in the foot when everything in your life is going wrong? First, make a commitment, a promise to yourself to take positive action every day. Notice, we didn’t say the action had to be massive, expensive or time-consuming. We only suggest that you participate in the daily habit of positive action. To do this, set a morning routine. Before you get out of bed every morning, set an intention. Think of something you can be grateful for, something you can do for someone else and something you’d like to receive. Allow this action to be something easy, free of charge and quick so there won’t be any excuses preventing you from engaging in this morning practice. Whenever you overcomplicate you give yourself excuses and reasons why you’ll fail. Let’s look at a practical morning intention moment. Before rising you may say, “I’m grateful for this day. I’d like to give someone a compliment and receive a smile.” Now you simply get up, get dressed and go about making this happen for yourself and someone else by looking for the opportunity to give someone a compliment.

Instead of looking for the other shoe to fall, you’re looking for the next miracles moment, the next cause for joy

This may seem silly and inconsequential but here’s what’s happening for you energetically. First, you made a formal declaration of intent, an “I do want this,” statement. Next, you chose to give something lovely to someone else. This forces you to think, dwell upon and speak about lovely things which then activates the law of attraction to bring you more that’s lovely. Third, you move vibrationally into a state of expectation to receive something desired. Therefore, instead of looking for the other shoe to drop, you’re looking for the next miracles moment, the next cause for joy.

Choose to be fully present in this moment instead of allowing your attention to wander as you search for something more appealing to focus upon

After you’ve set your intention, it’s important that you spend time on yourself. Spend time in meditation so you’re filled with love and joy. Choose to dress with care and groom yourself well so the outside matches your inner state of harmony. Instead of rushing through everything trying to get to the next task on your to-do list, spend the time necessary to thoughtfully and conscientiously complete each task. Choose to be fully present in this moment instead of allowing your attention to wander as you search for something more appealing to focus upon. Invest your time and attention in this moment as you remember your daily intention is now to give and receive good.

You’re actively seeking and finding new reasons to be joyful

Finally, as you move through your day practice paying attention to everything that brings you joy. For most of you, this will require a new level of focus. Society dictates a gloom and doom awareness but we want you to cultivate a love and joy awareness. This means that you’re actively seeking and finding new reasons to be joyful. Your task throughout the day will be to constantly remind yourself of everything you see, hear and feel that brings you joy, that brings a song to your heart and lightness to your spirit. Your job is to be a beacon of joy.

You’ll never attract what’s unwanted by looking at what’s right

You’ll never be able to attract what you do want by looking at everything that’s wrong, that’s unwanted or that causes you to feel afraid. Conversely, you’ll never attract what’s unwanted by looking at what’s right. You’re safe, you’ll prosper and you’ll stay aligned with your highest good when you commit to filling your being with everything that feels good. Go ahead and laugh, sing and play – good comes from good and we desire that you experience good.
