WELL innovation seems to be the new buzz word for the next year. Properties are talking about innovation, and how to apply it to the industry. What exactly is Innovation? Innovation to bring something new to the table. Have we not brought everything that there is to the hospitality table? I guess not, for the industry seems to think that it can do better through “Innovation” Now how many executive do you suppose understand the true meaning of innovation? How will this new buzz word be applied to the work force? What will the industry innovate.
Why should we innovate?
It seems that every year a new word is brought up for the industry to hang a hat on. Are the owners and CEO’S going to run out and start innovating? Innovating what may I ask? Don’t you just love it when a new word comes around that is supposed to add to the bottom line. Have we not been innovating all of this time? If we have been innovating, then why haven’t we seen the results? Articles that claim if the new breed of CEO’S don’t innovate their tenure will be short lived. I have to ask, how exactly are these new executives going to innovate? What new ideas are they going to bring to the industry? I am all for innovation, that is thinking outside the proverbial box, but in such a matter that it produces measurable results.
Is it possible to become an innovator? Let’s face it not everyone will work outside the box. Are their executives that are willing to take the risk of innovating something new? This article possess a lot of questions to the readers, and rightly so. Those industries that wont subscribe to change, will more than likely fall by the wayside. Those hotels that are not willing to take that extra step will suffer the same fate. So we should all go out and start innovating something so as not to fall by the wayside, right? I just innovated a new article, will that make it better?
