In my view, Susan Fowler is right. “People live up (or down) to our expectations of them” – That’s so simple and yet it looks like so complicated at the same time… I think that when people insist on holding others accountable… no matter what… without regard to any other considerations, then something is really wrong… something wrong inside themselves. I think that if people don’t have that (let’s say unusual) talent to bring folks into their dream… if they can’t convey passion, motivation, enthusiasm to others… if they are not able to get others excited about an idea… if they don’t care about the knowledge of human nature… if they just follow “tokenism”… if they believe in the “stick & carrot”… (which seems to be a popular indoor sport these days…), then… in my view, it’s not just a fault of leadership. It’s that they’re not fit to lead, they’re not suited for this job. People do things. People is the most important asset you have. If you don’t understand the people, then what do you expect? Thank you.
