Whether you love or hate Halloween and all the hoopla that goes along with it, it can’t be ignored! This year Americans ended up spending an additional $1.5 billion more than we did last year on Halloween, which is saying something since last year we spent $7 billion.
Lets break that figure down a bit, the four main categories that make that spend up are as follows : Costumes ($3.1 B), candy ($2.5 B), decorations ($2.4 B), and greeting cards ($390 M). These figures are pretty insane considering the price point for most of these items.
When it comes to our largest category (which is costumes), plan to see a lot of Batmen, Princesses, and Donald Trumps running around the streets this year – because those particular ensembles are topping off the costume-popularity chart. And of course we can’t forget our furry canine friends, because the trendy ones will be dressed like hotdogs and Yoda’s!
Regardless of how Americans are planning to dress and spend, if you are bloodthirsty for cashing in on this sneaky holiday, go ahead and check out this infographic by The Shelf for more sweet deets.
Trick or treat, friends! It’s that time of year again when everyone launches into a frenzy of costume planning, pumpkin carving, and gooley party decor prepping. If you think Halloween is just reserved for brands that sell costumes and party decor though, think again.
