From Thorns to Rose Reward

God gave me life, that I might enjoy
the ribbons, the pearls,
the satin and lace.

To embed in my memory each loving embrace.

Life is a gift
to be treasured each day.

Enjoy the soft moments and learn from the hard.
Get through the tough and you will reap your reward.

For nothing is simple for those God has chosen.
So look past the thorns to lovely, the rose.

Each sunrise is giving
a new day of hope.

So stand and deliver your best with each day.
God will reward those who work hard and play.

It really is simple if you stop and think of it.
Believe in the Lord and the rest of life is set.

The pieces will fall to the puzzle of life.
And less you will find of living with strife.

Notice you will, more, the stars and the moon.
The flowers and rainbows and raindrops in June.

Appreciate all that you have in the present.
Look beyond dollars and treasure each cent.

Live within means and not without bounds.
Enjoy all the beauty and wonderful sounds.

So lucky we are to be part of this world.
Live each day to the full and your dreams will unfurl.

My Poetry, Photography, and Journals hold treasure from grade school to high school to adult school, which I'm still attending ... just waiting for the final grade. Each layer of life reveals a new truth and with age, it becomes apparent that time is my greatest rival. My hope is to reflect with words and pictures that offer comfort, insight, and wisdom for a life well-lived with peace and tranquility in the end.

    • Joel, thank you once again for your kindness! I appreciate your thoughtfulness and I am glad if this poem brought you hope. Cindy

    • You are welcome, Cindy. It was a pleasure to read your poem. I hope you will continue to use your gift.

    • Joel, yes, I suppose I will write until the end of my days. It’s funny that you mentioned it, because at the end of last year I had to question what to do. Then I realized that I have no way to disrupt such a powerful gift from God. Thank you for supporting that gift – as you & I both know it comes from a higher realm. Cindy
