Days are getting shorter
Nightfall early closes in
Mornings are adventurous
Sunrise later to be seen
Candlelight warming heart
Softly glowing, lighting faces
Breakfast time or dinner
Gentle glow softens the air
Outside, stars greet us earlier
Though they are always there
Witness their twinkling magic
Millions of light-years away
Their light travelled fast
To see our faces shining
Autumn is upon us
Their light is always there

I absolutely love this poem. It encapsulates Autumn perfectly. I think the idea of a candlelit breakfast is an inspirational. So many words written about candlelit evenings by the fire or at dinner, but this for me is a first. You really created an ambiance for the reader, the words were threaded like silk. As I read them, I felt a warmth and sense of comfort and contentment. Thank you and more please, not that I’m greedy, but I really enjoy good poetry.
Dear Christopher,
Thank you everso for your literally glowing comments. So much appreciated.
Candlelight does warm the heart and especially at breakfast time, when the morning light is just about to bless us, a modest candelabra on the breakfast table ensures we welcome a day of calm, serenity and appreciation of our lives.
Thank you my friend,
Simon
