Fake news is made up of entirely fake stories presented as credible journalism, news stories with misleading headlines, or satire. Real news focuses on accurate, fair and thorough information. Sensationalized headlines and made up information can lead to the spread of inaccurate information and outlandish rumors – and, in the digital age, that spread happens quickly. Fake news publishers are often motivated by money and the manipulation of real life events, like elections.
