What is it you ask? Our WHY is the REASON we do what we do. It is our internal motivation. It gives us the strength to push through any challenge because our WHY is so much bigger than anything life can throw at us.
I just became a grandma for the first time. What a magical experience! I realized my WHY has just expanded. Our little granddaughter’s name is Claire, and a long time friend of mine sent me the link to a Gilbert O’Sullivan song “Clair” (see below):
PLEASE READ THIS – Recently I have been corresponding with Clair Mills herself – a privilege to chat with such a lovely person . She has asked me to share this message …
I have always found music to be so powerful in my life. It creates a special place in our hearts and once in our hearts, it gives us a deeper connection to whatever the memory is. When we ingrain something this deeply in our hearts, there is no second guessing, it deepens our “knowing” and our purpose and our why. It is a reminder why we do what we do.
My family is and always has been my WHY. My husband, our daughter, and son have always given me the sense of purpose to do what I do. As challenges have arisen over the years, the reason I could always push through to find solutions was because I do what I do for my family. There is never a second guessing on decisions. I know what I need to do because each decision is made to bring me closer to my goal, which is always based on what is best for my family.
Last year our daughter got married and we added the most perfect son in law we could ever have imagined. He became part of our family circle instantly, even before they were married. Again, music from the wedding continues to fill my heart with joy and wonderful memories and added to my sense of purpose.
As I go forward, already having very strong WHY’s in my life, I now have another song to connect to my why. It gave me an idea that I wanted to share with you. I made a playlist of all these meaningful songs. As we are out in the world working towards goals and dreams, it’s easy to forget our WHY and get caught up in the challenges that come up. Let music remind you of your WHY, put on your playlist and pull out the internal self-motivation and strength to push through whatever it is.
I feel the best “why” is our story of who we are.
