Don’t Be A Boss – Be A Leader

Success Line for Your Business

There is a huge difference between being a boss and a leader. A boss makes his employees work for him and a leader raises them and works with them. Leading a team requires a lot of qualities and it is a great responsibility. And until you don’t start leading your employees instead of bossing them around, you can’t succeed.

One person cannot achieve success on its own, they always require a whole team. And it is important to effectively work on that team so they can give their best too. Bossing them around and not reaching the level of your team to lift them up would just frustrate them and they would stop worrying about your work. A successful business requires hard working employees who give in their best and to do that, they do not want someone dictating them at every point but instead someone who understands and lifts them up.

The main qualities of a leader which the bosses lack are:

Confidence

Confidence is the main key as being a leader, you require that all of your team members follow your commands and for them to follow your commands, it is important that you are confident about your decisions yourself. You should be a role model for your employees and encourage them. You should yourself be loathing with confidence, but not over-confidence.

Commitment and Passion

Your teammates look up to you and they follow in your footsteps. For them to give their best, it is important that you give your best too and get your hands dirty. When they will see you giving in your best, they will then too. It will also build your respect in front of them and if they notice that you are not completely committed to the work or lack passion, they would start acting lousy about it all too.

Decision-Making Capabilities

An effective leader needs to take the right decision at the right time as their decisions would then affect all of their workers too. They should think a lot about it and think hard, but once they have come to a decision, it is then important to stick by it. Most of the time the leaders take decisions on their own while it is highly recommendable to first discuss it with all the shareholders as they are going to gain the profit or suffer losses with you.

Honesty and Integrity

Until you’re not honest with your work, there is no absolute way to be successful. No matter what your field is and where you work but it is important, to be honest with your work always. Honesty and integrity are two main and most important ingredients which make up a good leader.

Inspiring Others

The most difficult job as being a leader is making others follow you. You need to set good examples for your workers or team so they can follow you themselves and you don’t have to push them to anything. They will notice you on your every move and how you respond to different situations. It is very important to stay positive in all kinds of situations and show it through your actions. John Quincy Adam quotes “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” If you can successfully inspire others around you, you can easily overcome your future and current situations.

Communication Skills

Communication skills are another main skill required by a leader as they need to communicate with their team and others and inspire them through it and motivate them. If you can not explain that what you really want in the results, you would never be then able to achieve them. Words matter more than one can think and they have the ability to make someone work beyond their capabilities or thinking.

Empathy

Being empathetic with your followers is very important. Bossing them around wouldn’t get the work done as they would eventually get tired of your dictation all the time. You have to understand their problems too and work with them and try to lift them up. It is not enough to just understand their problems and pain but one has to come up with effective solutions for their problems.

Accountability

It is important to share the blame with the employees. A good leader takes more of the blame on himself than the actual and takes less of the credit than his actual share. When an employee makes a mistake, it is important to tell them that it is fine and their mistakes will help them perfect themselves and when they achieve something good, it is also important to give them a pat on their back and tell them how good job they did.

This would help them create a sense of responsibility and they would start taking your business more seriously.
