If you’re a true warrior, competition doesn’t scare you. It makes
you better.~ Andrew Whitworth
Several years ago I visited a friend and she introduced me to a skin care regimen. After using the product just once, my skin felt transformed. I immediately purchased the basic skin care set and realized that I wanted to share the benefits of these skin care products with others.I signed my Independent Sales Agreement that weekend so I could purchase at wholesale and sell at retail.
Since I was working in a corporate job, this would be done on a part-time basis. When I told one of my closest friends that I’d become a Skin Care Consultant, the immediate response I got was, “Aren’t there already lots of people selling that product?” There were thousands of people selling the products in the United States and many were in my county. The competition did not give me concern. My thought process has always been that there are enough people in the world for each person to connect with.
Do You Worry About Competition in a ‘Saturated Market’?
It’s not really about the competition. Your biggest challenge in a race is yourself. You’re often racing against time. You’re frequently running everything through your mind. You’re always competing against preconceived ideas. It’s not really the person next to you that you worry about.
~ Summer Sanders
Do you worry about competition? Have you allowed the thought of “a saturated market” to keep you from taking your passion from dreams to reality? It really does not matter which industry you choose to enter. There will always be lots of competition. In fact, when there is a lot of competition, it’s a good sign that there is a need for the product or service that you offer. You have an amazing opportunity to stand out in a crowded market. How? By finding out what everyone is doing and what’s missing? As humans, we’re great at copying each other so what happens is that we do and give more of the same.
Dare to Be Different
It’s ok to be different, the climate is not the same in every mind
~ B.Habyarimana, Pearls Of Eternity
What if you were to take the time to do research? What if you were to start with your market to find out what it is they really need. What’s missing?
Too many entrepreneurs assume that they know what their market wants and needs, and so they don’t take time to investigate. They create products and offer services in a vacuum. Imagine if you were to do that intensive research and discover those critical missing pieces! You could create a product or offer a service that is very different from what everyone else is offering. Your responsibility would be to make sure that you highlight the differences so that your market knows you offer the missing solution.
Move Forward with Your Passion
The only thing a person can ever really do is keep moving forward. Take that big leap forward without hesitation, without once looking back. Simply forget the past and forge toward the future.
~ Alyson Noel, The Immortals Boxed Set
Competition means nothing when you have the drive to succeed and the ideas to get you to where you want to be. Just remember, if you aren’t passionate about what you’re doing, you may as well not bother. Clearly identify what you’re passionate about; what lights the fire in you and makes you want to jump out of bed each day. Then take action.
Take Action Towards Your Dreams
The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give.
~ Howard Cosell
Take action every day and do something in your business and for your business that moves you forward towards the goals and the vision you’ve set for yourself. Do not spend time worrying about the competition! It’s wasted energy that could be used elsewhere.
