Cops Do the Heavy Lifting for the Light “Weight” Mayor of Chicago

How ironic it is that this mayor, who supported defunding the police now makes a statement,

“It’s a very sad and tragic day for our city,” said Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. “My heart aches for the loss of life.”

As the stats grow with Chicago leading in homicides, and shootings, gun violence, and just recently (3) people, including a 14-year-old boy, gunned down and 17 people injured in separate shootings last month, that it never ends.  Weak leadership, far-left ideology, and absolutely no respect for police, period!

I would like to know where the outrage from the men and women in blue is to begin, to step up and say enough is enough, turn your backs on this weak mayor who thinks that by making a statement as she did above, and meeting with the family of this 29-year-old police officer, coming onto the force in 2018, now dead, is going to soften the blow?

Isn’t it also ironic that “She” the Mayor of Chicago has her own private security, while citizens and residents go without?  Defunding the police?  I am tired of seeing our men and women in blue, black, tan, green, or white deal with such leadership.

We need to do something and that means with the picture I saw of all the police officers standing in condolence, outside the hospital for those shot, turn your backs, let the mayor know that you’re not going to take anymore!

“All these officers did was stop a car, make a traffic stop, and then it happened! “

Speaking to reporters about the shooting, Mayor Lori Lightfoot urged Chicagoans to end what she called “the constant strife” over the roles of police.

“The police are not our enemies,” she said during a news conference Sunday. “We must come together. … We have a common enemy: It’s the guns and the gangs.”

No Mayor, it’s not just the common enemy of guns and gangs, it’s the leadership you portray and have portrayed against the police to be in line with the far left, BLM, and Antifa.  You are now worried about your position and whether you will be re-elected.  That’s what your soft comments suddenly add up.

Heaven forbid if you could not get your hair done because of COVID, but found a way to do so, or heaven forbid you lost your high-paying job and the power it holds.

You Mayor, along with many others who spout off about defunding the police need to put on a uniform without a vest and go into the field, ride in a police unit that is being stomped on, or better yet, stand outside a unit and do a traffic stop, while someone points a gun at you and maybe throws an object towards you.

I pray for the family of every police officer that has died fighting to save another.  I pray for each of them that by their death, something good will come of it, perhaps the surge of officers all over the United States will make a cause to stand up and do something!  Enough is Enough!  How many more will die?

A country cannot survive without Law Enforcement, and it sure cannot survive with mayors who want to defund police, abolish ICE, take away our gun rights while they themselves demand protection.

My years as a cop are gone, but my heart is connected to all men and women who take on this vocation, and the 10% that have made us look bad and have had the nerve to put the uniform on, only to give us a bad name, thanks a lot!

I believe in community policing, but that can’t happen in defunding the police.

To the officer’s family of the female who died, and the ones before you, the wounded”, you will never be forgotten, mayors like Lori Lightfoot and others like her, will not be forgotten, and the blood they helped spill is on them!

  1. Thanks for the article Lynn. It’s a sad scenario when those who are willing to put on the uniform are led by cowardly politicians whose only interest is in serving themselves. They want to ‘reimagine’ policing while criminals are laughing at them and enjoying the free pass they have in the form of ‘woke’ district attorneys who are also responsible for undermining real law enforcement efforts. Those on the front lines in Democrat controlled cities are left without the training, support, and funding needed to do their job…….a job that very few are willing and able to perform. I pray for their protection always, but especially during this time our country is going through – the fabric of our American society is being attacked on every level. Amerca cries out for true leaders to rise up – …….they are out there, but you wouldn’t know it if your only source of information is the leftest ‘news’ media. Those of us who hold fast to conservative, patriotic and/or Christian values need to do what we can whenever we can to wield the influence we have in our families, schools, churches and the general community around us to turn the tide. Thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you Mike for taking the time to read what I wrote. It was certainly in the heat of the moment that the thought came to me. I just can’t stand what’s happening to our men and women in Law Enforcement and in our Military

  2. Lynn, Great article. Blue Lives matter and have always mattered. The police are the one thing that stand between a civil society and total chaos. Without a well funded, well trained Police force there would no place safe where you could live.

I remember when I was a police Officer and just starting out in 1970. The City of Syracuse at the time had just elected a Mayor by the name of Lee Alexander. An up and coming good looking Democratic attorney who defeated a Republican incumbent. He was the longest serving Mayor in the history of the City of Syracuse. But Lee made a few enemies’ a long the way and midway through his tenure it was decided that he needed just more than the usual Police security that was provided no matter where he went. There was plenty of rumor’s about the womanizing and lavish life style. It was decided that along with his police detail a guard shack needed to be built near the driveway entrance to his family house. That guard shack was to be manned 24/7. It was a detail that no one wanted. So it seems even back then there was a disparity between the haves and the have nots. BTW the Mayor in 1988 was sentenced to 10 years in prison having plead guilty for extorting over $1.5 million in kickbacks related to racketeering, tax evasion and obstructing a federal government investigation. He had no love for the police and used his office for his own personal gain. I was towards the end of my career and I remember how happy that we as police officer’s were able to see a corrupt Politian finally going to jail.
Most of the mayors who want to defund the police have started to realize they may have made a mistake. The citizens want police on the street and want to be able see a officer respond to their call for help rather than a Social Worker who would not know how to handle a real domestic violence call.
    Thanks again for the article.

    • Great comment Tom and thank you for taking the time to read and comment. You started out in your career the same time that I did and yes, I can relate and tell stories, even then seeing how those that needed to have it all, including the power in the leadership level was at that time. I am writing a book on my time as a female officer, and will have to not mention certain names to avoid civil suit. Citizens do want police protection, and we could have fixed this problem in a different way if leadership was willing while still having the protection.

    • Ken, I completely understand how you feel and I too just constantly shake my head. I just wonder how long it will be to weed out those that are incompetent! God Bless

  3. Your article says it all Linnie. Mayor Lightfoot’s comments about the police “not being your enemy” seem hollow and self-serving since she has been public enemy number one of the Chicago Police. She has deflected any criticism of her gross incompetence and willful negligence by telling a reporter that her critics are racist, sexist and homophobes
because she is a black woman lesbian. This mayor refuses to be held accountable and she should be shunned by the cops as well as by the citizens. “Wokeness” by the PC cultural elites be damned! God bless the fallen officers and prayers of support for their families. God help the citizens who live in the gang and drug invested war zone neighborhoods. They deserve better than the likes of Mayor Lightfoot!

    • Thanks as always for your support in my thoughts and heartfelt emotions when it comes to what vocation I loved and was good at and worked with some of the best partners, despite the leadership that could have been better for all of us at the time but especially could have been better for the citizens we served. Not as bad then as it is now.
