A post and a comment spurred the writing of this post.
The post is “Instead” TALKS: ConverSessions that Matter by Dennis Pitocco. In his post, Dennis wrote, “I have exchanged over the years thousands of comments with great minds. These conversations not only reshaped my thinking, upgraded it but also transformed it”.
So true is what Dennis wrote. Prior to reading his post, I received a comment by Kurt Piket in which he wrote “Intense jealousy turning to grudge”. This thought initiated the transformation of my thinking and provided proof of what Dennis Pitocco wrote.
The conversion of extreme jealousy to grudges is a topic that opened the door to studying the conversion of extreme emotions such as love. The research served to introduce me to new concepts, which I am sharing with the readers.
Many people do not differentiate between jealousy and envy. In fact, they do in that extreme jealousy converts to envy makes sense.
Jealousy shows in many behaviors such as this beautiful and worthy video explains with animations. The video has the title “11 Subtle Behaviors of Jealous & Insecure People (Animated)”
Jealousy is a form of insecurity and can develop into envy.
Conversion of extreme love
How about love and its conversion? The search for this topic proved interesting as it introduced me to new concepts and words that I doubt many readers know them.
Have you heard of the two words limerence and amigeist? These are two new words. Researchers introduced them in recent years and both refer to cases of extreme love converting to one of them.
Limerence is a form of extreme negative love that has negative effects on the lover. Limerence is a state of obsession with another person that involves an all-consuming passion and intrusive thoughts.
In contrast, amigeist is an extreme case of positive love, which researchers discovered recently. It has positive effects as it brings feelings of attachment and lifelong relationship.
Other forms of emotions conversion
I did not include the conversion of emotions upon two of them reacting together such as fear and surprise to produce awe or remorse and sadness to produce disgust.
This post focused on two emotions and their conversions. I invite the readers to share their examples.
