Connecting the Missing Links to Live in Love

–with Special Guest Zen Benefiel

Episode Description

I changed the name of my podcast this year to View From the Roof because I wanted to go deeper with my conversations. I believe that’s a vast understatement of what I explore in this episode with my guest Zen Benefiel.

When I met Zen at the beginning of this year, I had an experience of nothing other than pure love. He was leading a discussion and it seemed with every syllable he spoke, the room allowed for just a little bit more vulnerability and flow than they did before. The space between those syllables was the sacred, the space of a harmonious being.

As we got to know one another, I found him remarkably adept at tying big concepts together, which is something human beings are hungry for right now.

In the old paradigm, we viewed aspects of our lives in a state of separateness. Science, spirituality, religion, our careers, our bodies, our friendships, etc were things that we viewed as, for the most part, seemingly unrelated.

Even now, as society intellectually explores things like AI and UFOs – many of these concepts are filed away in our minds as “other.” And yet, what if it’s all part of the infinite intelligence?

Zen has been talking about consciousness deeply since the 70s and 80s, when his message could hardly be heard, never mind understood. I’ve been a voracious consumer of his content for a few months, and I’m honored to have him as my guest on View From the Roof. The pandemic facilitated a phenomenal opportunity for us as points of consciousness to become more aware of who we truly are. As Zen says,

We all have a perfected form, fit, and function. It’s a genetic and solar blueprint that we carry, that we have not been paying attention to because we didn’t understand the intricacies of how well-designed we are. That comes from acquiescing to allowing that flow to come, and not using the same thinking that caused our problems to solve them.

Maybe it’s time we start connecting the missing links.

I hope you’ll take an opportunity to explore some big shit with us in this episode. I find that so many of us share that deep inner knowing of who we are, and we allow whatever we think we should be to take over and keep us from ourselves. This podcast is just one more step in putting all of the things together and having it make sense. As Zen would say, “Then make sense common, so we can all rise to that level of love that we’ve been living in, that we’ve been denying for millennia.”

Andee Scarantino is a Mindset and Transformational coach on a mission to make personal development digestible. She is the creator of getthefuckoff.com, and host of The Get the F*ck Off Podcast, which deep dives into identity, limiting beliefs, and “getting the fuck off the shit that doesn’t serve you anymore.”  Andee earned her M.A. in Sociology from Columbia University in 2013. Her work incorporates how macro-level systems contribute to individual arrested development. Since a very young age, she has always had a fascination for knowing and understanding people. She spent 20 years working in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry; 11 of those years were at a restaurant in Times Square. Through that time, both while bartending and training staff members, she honed the incredible skill of active listening. Now, Andee uses her powerful voice to connect to the “greater story of us,” showing readers and listeners alike how so much of our human experience is dictated to us by things outside of our awareness. Andee is the creator and leader of a women’s coaching community, “Day 1.” The community is based on the concept that everything happens now. One of her members described it as a “beautifully powerful container full of trust, vulnerability, laughs, a few cuss words, and a whole lot of exploration.” Present moment awareness is a major component of Andee’s mindset and transformational coaching, and she’s diligent in having her clients examine their stories in between sessions. Day 1. is a reminder that every day, every moment, is an opportunity for a fresh start. Who you are today is not contingent on yesterday. A former 18-year cigarette smoker, Andee now is an avid runner and has run many full marathons since 2018. Quitting smoking was the fulcrum that shifted her understanding of how perceived identity contributes to people staying in what they believe are unmovable scenarios. Andee lives in New York City. In her free time, she enjoys running by the East River.
