Back muscles ache.
Hunger pangs.
A stuffed, bloated
Tummy, eating
Feelings of hurt, loss, grief.
Mind busy blathering
Thoughts Distract
From wobbly knees,
Heat of a cracked heart.
Cool breath inhale
Hot puff anger exhale
Fingers touching
Soft skin, a beloved pet’s fur,
A fuzzy blanket.
Contracted toes
Relaxed face.
Full bladder
Urge To pee. Thirsty.
Feet bare in the sand,
Dirt, hot pavement,
Walking on top of trash,
Pieces of glass,
A plastic child’s toy,
Warm, squishy mud
A lake bottom,
Wet ankles.
A wisp of hair dances
Near the corner of a
Teary eye,
A cool wind blows
Creating goosebumps
On arms.
Staring with awe
A breathtaking sunset.
Salivating with
Thoughts of eating
Savory, sweet, creamy,
Crunchy, piping hot
Indian, Mexican,
Thai, Indonesian
French,
Dutch

An accidental cut
Skin stings
Bleeds blood red
Invisible oxygen
Penetrates

Veined life
Energy.
Scent of fear.
Tingles of excitement.
Flush of embarrassment.
Tickle of laughter.
Pounding heart.

Thank you so much, Simon. I continue to ponder the places and spaces that we share in common as human beings-as multifaceted, multidimensional, complicated, breathing humans-because we can connect in those places we find our humanity, compassion, more sane ways of being together-in kindness and empathy. If I know what if feels like to be hungry-maybe I can get a glimmer of being famished…If I’ve lost someone to death, I can sense that deep loss another person is experiencing in their heart and soul-alongside the joyous celebrations too!! I appreciate your thoughts, reflections, and kindness, Simon.
Dear Laura,
Your words deliver a scary, but realistic feeling/experience. I was reading them just now and they really did attach to my senses. Judging from the Linkedin comments, there is more resonance with women; but anyone who is sensitive to human emotions and feelings will relate to those words. Very special, Laura.
