Recently I came across a quote of Satya Nadella, C.E.O. of Microsoft, “Our industry does not respect tradition, what it respects is innovation.” I am utterly bemused as well confused with such an emphatic claim. I wonder about the significance of traditions and how far we can discriminate it with our self-proclaimed “Innovation”! Our traditions alone paved the way for innovations or revolutions in production to emerge materially which can satiate human desire and in accordance with the need of human society we are accordingly living and evolving. Nature alone guides us and infuses us with energy to produce and reproduce. Production is an inevitable consequence of nature only to substantiate with an entity as a matter of distinction and this flow proceeds in a motion that alone determines all matters in the floor of the planet Earth as well in the Universe to manifest and explore. Sometimes, the motion may manifest at a slow pace, sometimes at a rapid pace, depending upon the external conditions as well the internal configurations which may eventually augment and determine its flow.
Unlike all other creatures in nature, human beings having a society of their own, and the fabric of its hierarchical structure is largely being designed out of the productive force and production relations, which eventually determine the social pyramid we are accustomed to and still prevails with the hegemony of the superior one, who are duly nourished with required nutrients, while the inferiors remain subjugated with utter drudgery, incapable to emerge their entity and vigor in galore.
Now the nuances of human relationships which navigate for one to experience success or may be responsible for one to experience failure is needed to be addressed with due gravity, where sometimes, one may be influenced, triggered, or stimulated to go ahead of many and instead of envy, he may garner accolades out of his endeavors for ushering many to facilitate their lives with ease and comfort.
In the passage of time, these tendencies lead to garner huge mundane wealth and luxury for few, while the majority, who are the beneficiaries being excluded or ignored, and thus the unequal distribution of wealth came to the few. Few wealthy people are so obsessed with their acquired mundane wealth and pomp, hardly care for the majority and even in the present world, they can dare to have their fancy of exploring space odyssey, while the majority cannot even perceive taking a family trip to nearby hill resorts or seashores.
Traditions, I guess, never bear an essence of devastation and are forced to unearth a crash to the existing ecosystem from where it emanates its strength to emerge with multiple hues for an available society for inclusive growth. Respecting traditions can alone ensure the overall growth of the society we are dwelling with equality and eventually bring prosperity to the entire human society across the globe.
Nowadays we are living in a global village and our traditions and customs should be at par with the ecosystem we are accustomed to. An abrupt change may facilitate few to emerge as nova rich and they may have fancy to promote their supremacy with an audacity to be challenged by the majority out of their extreme hegemony and eclipsing the available system, where they appear as invincible by the majority as per the script they narrate their parochial views. Obscurantism, nepotism, and unfair mechanism are their only tools to camouflage many and thus they retain their position at the apex in the available social fabric they are dominating.
But, if we go through the pages of world history, we can evidently comprehend that those few eccentric dreamers are only capable to produce sheer reverie, and finally being obliterated from Earth’s floor and it is the traditions that are eventually being acknowledged. If we tend to ignore traditions for few eccentrics whims and caprice, then unknowingly we may tend to give birth only distortions in an available social fabric we are living. Mere technology and innovation cannot be the axiom of success if we tend to define ‘success’ as a grand carnival to usher only a few with immense booty, while the majority in an utter quandary and forced to be drowned with utter drudgery, where development for mankind and humanity is forced to be taking backseat without due heed. If our intention is to make people more and more dependent on machines, devoid of human touch and values, then we perhaps unknowingly posing a huge threat to mankind. Only equating profits with innovations may ultimately dry land where a boat cannot sail!
I guess, it is sheer fallacy to be obsessed with only innovation, where human relations may be forced to go into oblivion and machines will only produce sheer cacophony, unbearable for the majority to endure. When the majority is being forced to be eclipsed with utter despondence, not getting any opportunity to make a niche with respect and decency in the available human society, how come few can indulge in their self-glorifying fancy of success, only focusing to garner more and more mundane wealth? One day their peaceful revolution will surely engender a violent revolution inevitable and they will have to justify a common adage, “Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.”
Although, I firmly believe that both father and mother, are important to usher victory and the demise of both can make only one orphan. Mothers are inherently bearing the prowess of a revolutionary jeal and on nature’s floor, they are the true innovators to nurture their offspring to evolve as a revolutionary out of their traditional traits. We need to respect and support both for the overall development of the human society we are dwelling, lest we may force to beckon our own jeopardy out of few megalomaniacs greed and unfortunately encouraged to breed a progeny who will feel sheer helplessness as a nerd largely depending on mere technology!
