WHY CAN’T YOU JUST leave well enough alone? Why? Who appointed you to the one to “save” us from whomever, whatever or whenever you see fit. These type of statements are made by people who want things to remain the same not because they feel it right but mainly because change scares people.
My question is what is so well about someplace called America in the year 2015? What is so well about how shabbily we are treating Israel who is our greatest ally in the Middle East? What is so well with this deal we “negotiated” with Iran that basically gives them total freedom to build a nuclear bomb?
How can we leave well enough alone if our children are no longer taught spelling or grammar in Elementary School? Does leaving well enough alone mean that it is acceptable for the Pledge Of Allegiance to be deemed offensive enough to a group of hate filled fanatics to the point It is rarely recited?
How can we leave well enough alone when our government does not see fit to stop shoving its convoluted Health Care Program down our throats that lessens the quality along with the availability of health care? Is leaving well enough alone also mean that skyrocketing medical insurance premiums which are forcing people to decide between eating or seeing a doctor if they need to?
Is it okay to leave well enough alone as our Constitutional Rights are underhandedly being taken away from us? Should we also continue to allow the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses while somebody is making a profit from this? Is this too leaving well enough alone?
Are rigged unemployment figures that are designed to make things appear better than they have been in a long time when in fact there still way too many people who are unemployed or underemployed but since they are not counted we can leave well enough alone with this problem as well?
Why can’t we leave well enough alone by sitting quietly as we pretend our once proud Armed Forces who are disgustingly underpaid as it is are in line for more pay cuts plus cuts in the numbers of military personnel? The mentality in this case is that 9/11 happened even with all of these service people so that proves we don’t really need them. Just leave well enough alone.
While our streets have turned into a modern day Wild West where shootouts are more the norm as opposed to being categorized as unacceptable we should just leave well enough alone by making sure legitimate law abiding citizens are not allowed to own guns but criminals are. Disrespect for law and order as well as parents which breeds this culture of violence is best just leaving things as they are.
Face it the leaving well enough alone practice does not work! If there is a problem you can’t just close your eyes tight hoping everything will be okay when you open them again. The America our parents knew faced and overcame the challenges that were put before them. This was the America we knew post 9/11 until the current administration took over.
Can’t you leave well enough alone? This answer is NO because things are not well enough to be left alone! Things are not well enough to leave well enough alone!
All I can say is Bravo, Joel! And thank you for having the guts to speak up about this travesty that has become “America today”. The lack of action is still an action and you have courageously and honorable voiced your opinions that are shared by many others, me included. What can be done about it is a complex and ongoing concern. But the situation does need to be addressed. I think speaking out about it is one good way of working towards solutions.
The most dangerous saying in the English language is: “We’ve always done it this way.” Just a thought – what is well for your neighbour (past; present, or future) is ‘well’ for your neighbour… Not your household. Like you’ve mentioned to me before Joel, as long as an action does not cause harm – no man has the authority to play judge.
The law of motion defines movement in relation to a system. Choosing not to change a variable that is within your control and the probability of a well environment still existing would only be possible if time were to stop. In the absence of a timekeeper, it is choosing to be left behind.
Jared, I highly agree with your opening statement! This article is not about judging people but rather a wake-up call that changes need to be made as there are events unfolding that threaten our personal liberty. The problem is people do not want to make change for the simple reason it tales them out of their comfort zone. Thank you as always for your readership in addition to your comments.
