Tragically, human history includes the atrocious act of burning persons at the stake; most often for holding beliefs that contradicted political or religious ideologies of the day. The burning at the stake to which I refer in this post is related to a different type of torture: that mental and/or physical pain—an inner burning”—which may be felt when we attempt to deny our inner calling, or purpose. To deny that which we know we are intended to do is often the cause of suffering unique in nature.
Conform, conform, conform!—so often this is the herald cry of the media and the population of the world. To hold a different vision beyond that deemed “normal”—the expected, or demanded—is to center ourselves as a target for ridicule and abuse. Most often, the masses prefer the company of those alike themselves; they like fitter inners, not those rebellious “quacks” who would dare to express their inner vision. It is, however, to these daring dreamers that society at large owes a tremendous debt of gratitude. Where would we be without those who were willing to suffer the trials associated with birthing a vision to the world? Here, as inspiration, is a passage from “As A Man Thinketh,” by James Allen. Please let the feeling from his words embrace you and help sustain your belief—in yourself and your dream:
Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream so shall you become. Your Vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.
The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleep in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul, a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.
You shall realize the Vision (not the idle wish) of your heart, best it base or beautiful, or a mixture of both, for you will always gravitate toward that which you, secretly, most love. Into your hands will be placed the exact results of your own thoughts; you will receive that which you earn; no more, no less.
My brave-hearted dreamers, with heartfelt gratitude I salute you. Hold tight, hold tight, hold tight! When facing a wall that would threaten to deprive the achievement of your dream you on the outer, turn within to your faith and the Lighted Way! Thank you for being willing to endure the loneliness of an inner vision sustained; to believe in the calling of your heart; to persist against all odds. The quality of our world is at stake.
