Bring New Energy Into Your Life

This month, I decided to share with everyone one of the reasons why I keep on pushing. Last month, my daughter told my hubby she was going to a high school technology competition and bringing home an award.  She completed her matter-of-fact statement with, “It’s been 7 years since I won a trophy, so it’s long overdue!”

Please keep in mind that this is our 16-year-old daughter, the one who loves school and everything about it.  Side note, everyone, she gets that from her Momma!

So, entering this competition was not a biggie for her as was her bringing home a medal.  If I must be honest, I will admit to everyone that although she is a straight “A” student, I was concerned I might have to console her when she came home.  It’s not because I did not have faith in her.  I know first-hand what she is capable of doing.  My desire to prepare an “it’s okay speech” is because I always prepare for a half-empty glass.

In this particular situation, I was worried that because she was so determined about bringing home a trophy, I just knew her heart would break if she did not.  If and when that happened, I wanted to ensure I was there to pick up the pieces and dry the tears. My daughter was officially successful in making me worry for the rest of the day.

So fast forward to the end of the school day and my hubby is texting me to tell me the news.  Apparently, our teenage Wonder Woman went to the competition and did the darn thing.  Not only did she keep her word of winning a medal, but she came in 2nd place at the SkillsUSA North Carolina, South Central Regionals Competition for Advertising Design.  As I am sharing this with you, I am still smiling with joy.
