What was it that brought me here and when do I leave,
Was it a magical wind from down by the lake,
Or a salty ocean breeze?
Did it place me here to ride out time and other lifelong storms,
Or did it simply plant me here to keep life moving on?
Was it that I was to travel through and change another’s life,
Or walk with someone who was lost acting as their guide?
When was the time or day to come that I’d finished out this ride
And take the saddle from my steed as we crossed to the other side?
When did life take control with a pull and little push
Leading me upon my travels through the bramble and broken bush
Then when back upon the road on the other side of town
Left me to go on my own to discover the world around!
To see the darkness in life’s light
To taste the sweetness in ripe fruit and bitterness in green rinds
To learn from all that I encountered
The meaning of life’s tides….
I just love this line Johnny..
“To see the darkness in life’s light“
The self reflections…
When we discover the darkness…we really are finding out the meaning of our life.
Deep thoughts That’s me today!
Thank you
Thank you so much Paula. Regarding that: When very very young I was released into a perfectly beautiful world anticipating ice cream for everyone only to find the dark sides of society, humanity and life which in my youth was quite an awakening until learning how to manage it.
So true.. the harsh realities slap up you in the face..How to manage became a superior job in life. We had to get a tool belt and try to be prepared… and sometimes we just can’t find the right tool.🙏
Beautiful my dear friend. As we are well along in our journey life demands that we guide others and share what we have learned. You are both poet and teacher.
Look forward to reading your work in poetry. Well done
Thank you Lynn. I believe we all are designed for a purpose even though we may only be a small cog in lifes massive wheel and as I grow older I question the purpose of God’s plans and in mystery his reason for placing me in this world.
Wish my mind would release its hesitation and allow me the ability to visualize my thoughts more clearly because sometimes when I write I fear people don’t understand that which I’m trying to convey. Then again I truly write for my own pleasure so should it really matter….lol
Johnny, your usual poetic brilliance. We oftentimes find ourselves in places and wonder how we got there or why we are there.
Thank you my friend. Hope you’re well.
My pleasure, Johnny. All is well. Thank you for asking.
