Bill Clinton came to me in a dream and showed me we all want the same things (when we take our conversations deeper). He told me the differences in how we believe we should get there is because of the decisions we have made about who and what people are—their capabilities.
When we decide whether we believe people can do for themselves or that they very limited and those of us who are “less limited” must decide what is best for them, we choose which side of the political spectrum we see as the best. What we believe about an individual’s ability to achieve his or her dreams and desires through grit, determination, work, character, and inner strength determines how much of a role we believe the government should have in individual lives.
It was very strange that it was Bill Clinton in my dream because I am not a fan of his, but I do recognize that each of us has a “self-actualized” self whether that is our quantum potential, our soul, or our higher self doesn’t really matter. From the perspective of his self-actualized self I respect Bill Clinton’s as I do the self-actualized self of all other people and it was that part of him that visited me.
I am not left or right (politically) because there are aspects of both I agree with and aspects of both I disagree with. Basically, there isn’t a party that represents my perspectives fully.
In my work, I focus on not seeing limits. I have been told I see too much potential in those who have been labeled “limited” and we all have been labeled as limited—it’s only a matter of degree. I focus on seeing the potential in others. I have deliberately cultivated a mindset that keeps that focus.
I am politely disinterested in learning the limiting labels assigned to, or accepted by, others. When I see another’s limits instead of their potential I limit what I can inspire from within them. I think the frequent arguing for one’s limitations occurs because they do not want to be judged harshly if they do not reach their potential. My students often tell me about limits others saw for them, things they were told they couldn’t do by authority figures in their life, and about how they did those things anyway.
Our society does not realize consciously that no one ever reaches their full potential because potential is an ever expanding quality.
Negative and positive expectations can influence others. I try to always be on the side of positive influence.
Before the dream ended, Bill Clinton also told me what I need to do is surround myself with those who are accustomed to listening to ideals; then expanding as the result of the new idea—only there will my potential begin being realized.
This is a strange post for me. I have never publically written about my dreams before but in light of the current mood of the country and my belief that we need deeper conversations, the message that left and right want the same things at the core of their beings provides a path for deeper conversations.
I wrote a post about those three things last year. The only way to find that common ground is to have deeper conversations. Are you willing to have deeper conversations?
