This is just another great example (and a huge part of) Bringing Humanity Into Business and Beyond !!! Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos.com is absolutely right about this. Did you know that Synovus Financial has it in their mission statement is the “Golden Rule”?
Wow! that is getting down to basic humanity, don’t you agree?
Why is it that more companies aren’t having a more human element approach? To have the success of their own employees and to the company be that much greater in achieving the level of success they say they want for their companies, but in reality, it is 180° in the opposite direction.
Companies saying team, team, team. But in fact are showing their very own employees it is all about me, me, me.
Why do we let companies do this to us on such a grand scale?
I am on a mission here on LinkedIn and beyond to Bring Humanity Into Business at every level of the business marketplace and Beyond. John C. Maxwell has stated that there is a Myth of Leadership in Management, that we equate leadership with management to be one and in the same when they are truly not !!! And he is absolutely right about this. Leadership is all about having people follow you, Management is all about workflow and processes. But I would like to see the day when Leaders and Management are truly one and the same. That is why we truly need to change the status quo when it comes to company culture.
Do you know when we build a business, We build a team that will turn into a Community that will turn into a Movement! That is powerful!
Time to Bring Humanity Together. Here is the link to her video.
Let’s talk about this and more …
If a company really wants to consider its employees as people, it must try to activate listening, empathy and truly guarantee well-being at work. Taking that extra step that makes the employee really feel heard. Understanding what his needs are at some moments in his life and, obviously, also taking into account company priorities, how to meet him.
Granting smart working, give the opportunity to work in a coworking for a certain period of time (even if there is a small financial commitment behind it), guarantee flexibility in entry and exit for those who perhaps go back and forth in the hospitals that have of visiting times that clash with office hours, avoiding meetings at certain times, emails and calls in delicate moments, as well as giving the possibility to recover hours or granting permits with much more ease than can usually be done. These are all exemple of actions that help the worker as a person and that certainly lead to the construction of another value which is gratitude. The one that, in a delicate moment and in which every little concrete action helps you, leads you to trust the company you work in and the people you do it with, the one that goes hand in hand with transparency and trust.
You are so right Chris!
If management incorporated leadership in a mission of humanity then the process would be one where all would win. The Golden rule is the all time mission statement in life!
Happy to be a part of the mission here my friend! Thank you!
Thank you so much Paula for your kind words and continued support everyday in every way. The Golden Rule needs to be front and center in our daily lives both at work and in life itself. Why has our society and culture gotten away from this? I know, it is the status quo mindset that has given us a false impression of reality. What the status quo that has been doing for years has deeply undermined and underestimated the power of Humanity and the powers of Positivity and Possibilities that makes us all become a part of something bigger than ourselves !!
