People complain when bad things happen thinking that life has turned against them. It’s quite true that there are good and bad times but people want more of good times than bad times because they want joy and not pain. When bad things happen, it’s for you to become a better person.

Imagine when you’re hit with poverty and you go through severe pain. Instead of looking at the bad side of it, look at it from another perspective. It reveals to you your strength, true friends, and who you truly are. Those bad times are for you to be strengthened and become wiser.

I spent 17 months looking for a job online before I finally got it. I wrote an article, gave it out then I was recommended for a job which I got. 17 months is a long journey. The thing I realized is that for you to receive you must first of all give. The bad thing happened for me, not for me. Without it happening, I wouldn’t have known it then.

You’ll hear many people’s stories of the bad things that have occurred in their lives. The thing is that those bad things happened for them, not for them. When you listen to Oprah Winfrey’s messages, you’ll enjoy them because you’ll be inspired and also learn lessons. Going back to her story, you’ll notice that she had a lot of bad experiences in life. Those bad experiences were what made her become an inspiration because of the challenges she overcame. It happened for her to become the person she was meant to be.

Nelson Mandela is seen as one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known. But before he was given that honor, he was in a big mess. He had to sacrifice 27 years of his youth in prison. What happened was for him to become a leader the world would admire. Without those bad things, he wouldn’t have become the leader he was meant to be.

For you to see those bad things as something that happened for you, not to you, you must have a growth mindset.

A mindset that’s not stagnant but sees things from different perspectives. What happens to you doesn’t matter. It is how you respond that matters. If you respond positively, what happens is for you. But when you respond negatively, it happens to you. This is the mindset I have cultivated for many years. It has helped me overcome so many challenges and I hope you’re inspired to do the same.

You become an inspiration when you see things happen for you, not to you. You will hear stories of people going for job interviews and have been rejected 17 to 20 times before they finally get the job. That rejection taught them resilience and the importance of consistency. For any successful person you see the secret lies in consistency because without consistency, you’ll never finish. Without those bad things happening, you wouldn’t know so instead of happening to you, it happened to you.

Sometimes, your level of greatness and wisdom is in equal proportion to the level of bad things that happen to you. I’m not saying bad things must happen for you to be great but mostly great people experience bad things in their lives before becoming great. Bad things happen for ordinary people to prepare them for extraordinary destiny.

For you to claim that extraordinary destiny, you must first of all believe. Don’t forget I said having a growth mindset is necessary for you to believe. Without that mindset, you won’t believe the bad things that happened to you. Faith is something I’ve developed over the years because it is not something you develop in days, weeks, months, or even a year. It is something that takes years to build. People would be giving you advice on so many things and how to go on with life. But it is only when you’re in pain that’s when you receive the real insight. These are words coming from my heart and out of my experiences which I’m sharing with you. So embrace the bad things because that’s what will propel you up to another level in life.

Spending time studying and trying to proffer a solution gives me joy and I can even lose track of time so far I am on my accomplishment track. "Thinking," they say is one of the hardest tasks in the world but I prefer it to physical exercises. Mental actions such as meditation, and critical thinking are my calming and exciting moments. I love to visualize and imagine what the future would look like and that tickles my creativity. Precious is an ardent believer in investment in personal development because it births great achievements. You have to develop yourself first before you think of developing other people and society at large. Out of my inquisitiveness and firm belief, I idolize reading books that deal with self-development, psychology, leadership, and politics for my growth and valuable impact on society. When I was the deputy head prefect back in my secondary school I was awarded the best prefect of the year because of my hard work and dedication to societal development. 1. It is always necessary to accept reality even if you don’t like it because at least at that moment you cannot change it!
Reality is what it is, it is neutral and always true. It is our thoughts and our judgments that are not true because they are subjective and biased.
