Bad Habits Your Really Should Quit

Although we still have Christmas to enjoy, the new year is also fast approaching. This time of the year is usually the time when people make new years resolutions, look to self-improvement, getting healthier and quitting the bad habits that aren’t good for you. It’s all about out with the old and in with new and this should include any bad habits you have fallen into.

We should all make an effort to break bad habits, some are worst for you than others but making small changes in the right direction is a good way to start. Some of the bad habits you should really quit include:

Drinking That Leads To A Hangover

Ok, so sometimes it can be easy to go a little overboard and drink too much leading to a hangover the next day however, you shouldn’t be making a habit of this. It’s most definitely a clear way to compromise your health and therefore should only be enjoyed in moderation. Overindulging in too much drink can lead to chronic diseases, weight gain and can cause unintentional injuries when intoxicated. Drinking can sometimes be a problem for some people so if you or anyone you know is having difficulties it’s best to seek professional help.

Smoking

Yes, quitting smoking is definitely easier said than done but it definitely worth it in the long run. It’s a known fact that smoking lowers life expectancy by increasing your risk of heart disease, having a stroke, and can cause life long problems such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Although E-cigarettes aren’t exempt from this, some people have used them as a way to sway you in the right direction and curb your cravings until you can quit for good. If you are considering quitting it may be a good idea to do your research on ways to help quit by looking at stop smoking campaigns and an innokin zlide review. If you feel like you need support it’s always best to seek professional advice.

Yo-Yo Dieting

Yo-yo dieting is when someone starts a diet that is normally too restrictive and then quits, to then start a different diet. It can be a horrible routine and it’s not very good for your health. Often you will find that people who yo-yo diet put back on the weight they have lost and sometimes gain even more this is because your baseline weight increases bit by bit. If you want to maintain a healthy weight, it’s much better to adopt a healthy eating and active lifestyle instead. Continuously starting and stopping diets can lead to problems such as heart disease, stress, IBS and high blood pressure. If you want to lose weight and stay that weight it’s all about good food balanced with exercise.

Using Your Tech Before Bed

Most people are aware that they should be getting at least seven hours of sleep per night. This means that you need to have a good routine. A good routine before bed shouldn’t include your tech. Using your electronic items such as your phone, laptop or games console before trying to sleep can lead to you not being able to switch off and get the sleep that you need. You will get better quality of sleep if you stay away from technology for at least an hour before trying to get some rest. If you use a smartwatch you are even able to set yourself reminder for when it’s time to start getting ready for bed, make use of this and see how you feel after just a week.

Being A Couch Potato

While getting rest is good for you, your mind and your body, too much of it can have the opposite effect. Known as being a couch potato, spending too much time relaxing and lounging around can be bad for your health. You should be getting at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, whether it’s just a walk or you want to take part in more cardio. Strength training is ideal for strong bones, good muscles and your general health. Adding in cardio is a brilliant and effective way to manage your weight and help to support your metabolism. Try setting yourself reminders to move, again smartwatches are brilliant for this as they will let you know if you have become inactive for an extended period of time.

These five habits should be at the top of your list of things to quit. Do you have any others that are going to be included in your new year’s resolutions? Please share them in the comments below.
