Yes, dear readers my title of this missive of this rendering of my probing thoughts may to some of you a wee bit puzzling. Perhaps good old Gumshoe has finally been released from his tendrils of reality? Maybe . . .?
But not so fast my friends. Please read on further to understand this past meeting of Ms. Rand and Mr. Ockham.
The famous author of fiction Ayn Rand (the pen name for Alice O’Connor) wrote “The Fountainhead” and “Atlas Shrugged”. She died in March of 1982.
Gumshoe latched on to one of her pithy quotes:
The hardest thing is to explain the obvious to people who refuse to see it.
That was soooo true when Gumshoe responded to family disturbances, loud parties, and neighborhood disputes as well as dealing with TV lawyers. Don’t get Gumshoe started on the sovereign citizen buffoons.
Now let’s turn to the 14th-century theologian and logician, William of Ockham. He is credited with originating “Occam’s Razor”:
The simplest solution is almost always the best.
But of course, simplicity is better than complexity when it comes to problem-solving and critical thinking. Duh! “Keep it simple stupid” was a mental mantra for young Gumshoe on more occasions and not. Sometimes even for today.
This “meeting of the minds“ via the personal observations from both Ayn and William seemed to Gumshoe a good remedy in order to address our nation’s current state of chaos and confusion and conflict.
Here is Gumshoe’s list of simple solutions to clearly explain to the self-blinded iconoclasts or in cop parlance, the “HUA’s” — the heads up asses.
- Incompetent and corrupt leaders — replace them with impeachment or arrest. ASAP! Vote in person. No more mail-in ballots. Transparency in government for “We the people”. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
- Crime — Hold criminals accountable with sure and swift justice. Protect the victims.
- Defund the police— Fund and support the police. Defund the BLM socialists and the Antifa anarchist thugs.
- No bail—All dangerous felons held in custody without bail. Hold liberal judges and prosecutors accountable for not doing their respective sworn duties.
- Gun control—support the 2nd Amendment for law-abiding citizens. Concealed carry for all competent and trained adults.
- Open borders—complete the wall and increase the customs and border patrol by transferring to them the 80 thousand plus IRS agents. Nations have defined borders with immigration screening protocols. Who among us leaves our residence doors open and unlocked at night?
- Sanctuary cities—cut off federal funding for not complying with federal immigration law.
- China, North Korea, Iran, Russia—peace through strength. Support our Allies and no more nation-building. Support our military and stop “wokeness”. We can only destroy ourselves from within according to “Honest “ Abe Lincoln.
- Public Schools—pay back the educational taxes directly to the parents to send their children to charter schools. Teacher unions do not support our children. Forget the 1619 Project as well as Critical Race theory. Drag queens have no place in our elementary and secondary schools.
- Fentanyl OD Deaths—border control and recognize Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
- Sex confusion—men are men and women are women. DNA doesn’t lie nor do the X or chromosomes. Sexual deviancy needs treatment not an open door to suicide.
- Colleges—support factual American History and respect patriotism. Teach the results of socialism. Defund worthless degree programs.
- Student Loan Forgiveness—join the military and serve our country and earn free education via the GI Bill.
- Media—Hire real investigative journalists who ask pertinent questions and do not act as propaganda talking heads. Democracy dies in the dark.
- Abortion—a murder is a murder, always choose life, your parents did by the way. Support the basic building block of any free society, the family.
- Secularism—God, Invite Him back to the public forum. Remember the “One Nation Under God“ thing. Love God as well as your neighbor. Have free and open public debate and discourse without character assassination.
- Climate change—a hoax and a fraud for the Green New Dealers who tilt at windmills like Don Quijote.
- Inflation—become energy independent. Fossil fuels fuel our economy and our way of life. Demand that the government stop spending and stop the excessive printing of money. Adopt a zero-based budgeting approach. Fire the experts!
Well, folks, Gumshoe feels a wee bit better now and he hopes that all of you’uns got fired up as well. Common sense just is not that common for some (the elites) but not for us common folk. Ayn and William are a pretty good couple to draw to for their observations and wisdom. Solutions are us! God bless America again is the prayer before He declares, “Lights out!”

Well Gumshoe, I believe you had 18 bullet points all of which made sense. Problem is those of the liberal left don’t quite see it your way. I would like to respond to a couple of your bullet points starting with Open Borders/Illegal Immigration. Our administration has no intention of enforcing any laws when it comes to illegal immigration. They have not vetted any of the illegals, nor is anyone as far as I know tested for Covid. They put them on planes and drop them in various cities in the dead of night, yet when the Governor of Texas or Florida put them on buses and drop them in Sanctuary Cities those mayors cry foul. What’s the famous line used by Pelosi et al? “No one is above the law”. That is unless it is the Biden Administration.
Abortion: I work in Patient Transport at the hospital. This morning I had the pleasure of picking up four mother’s who were being discharged with their brand new babies. The excitement of those mom’s and dad’s was something to behold. Yes I know it was their choice to have that child cause “it’s their body”, but I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would want to snuff out the life of the unborn. I find it kind of disingenuous with those that find the death penalty cruel and unusual punishment, yet the killing of the unborn who have done nothing wrong except to be conceived ok.
Russia, China, Iran and North Korea: Had Truman allowed General McArthur the opportunity to finish the Korean War once and for all we might not have half the problems we have in that country. The only reason Russia became our ally was that they were double crossed by Hitler. Up until then they had no problem signing a non aggression pact with the Germans. Why would we want to reenter the nuclear deal with Iran? As for China, they if allowed will eventually own this country. Made in America should be our motto.
Gun Control: No problem with back round checks. Support the second amendment should be our rallying cry. Conceal and carry especially with the idiots that now support no bail laws for rapists, robbers, burglars, murderers. I have made the vow that if anyone tries to hurt me or my family the last thing they will see is the muzzle flash. Those liberal DA’s and Judges have forced the public to this by letting those arrested out of jail.
Unless we as a country wake up and realize what has been happening over the last few years we will have no country. All of us need to come together not as Republicans or Democrats but as human beings, human beings that need to understand and love one another

Well written as always bro Danny. One pastor I know says that our nation finds itself in the state we are in due to lack of prayer. I agree with him. And, of course, lack of prayer (in large part) is due to lack of relationship with our Creator. But those in the church (and by that I mean His church, not any man-made denomination) are guilty of a lack of prayer also. The simple (but profound) truth is, prayer changes things…..it moves the hand of God. God tells us 2 Chronicles 7;14, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” It seems that we (His people) hold the key.
With that in mind……here is a suggested prayer for our nation……
Heavenly Father, I pray for all men and women having governmental authority over us. Pour out Your Spirit upon them and make Your Word known to them. Help them to be men and women of integrity. Give our leaders wise and understanding hearts. Guide them in making wise and godly choices. Make their hearts attentive to godly counsel. Empower them to do what is right in Your sight. Give us upright, just and fair men and women in our government, that our nation would be secure. Sustain those who live right and blameless before You and keep them firm and strong.
Shake all areas harboring corruption & ungodliness in our land. Cut off the wicked. Let the unfaithful be rooted out; bring to light the hidden things done in darkness and expose those who are unworthy of our trust.
Cause this nation to remember from where we have fallen. Help us as a nation to repent – to humble ourselves, pray and turn from our wicked ways. We acknowledge that then You will hear us, forgive our sins and heal our land. Open our eyes and turn us from darkness to light.
Raise up a standard of godliness and righteousness in our nation. Raise up intercessors and those who will stand watch over our nation. Give us discernment and understanding to pull down strongholds over our land. Let the glory of the Lord be revealed once again! Arise and shine through Your people and fill our land with Your light and truth. Set our hearts and our souls to seek first You Lord and Your righteousness. I pray these things in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, Amen.
Amen! Amen! Amen! This prayer should be heralded from every pulpit in every church in our nation bro. God please hear this plea and heal our nation to be that shinning city on the hill once again.
Great article dearest as many times we have had conversations about what it would take to bring back order, respect and moral values to this crazy world. You know what punishments I would implement if I could be a leader for just one day for the crimes against children, etc, not to mention taking leaders to task by giving them a dose of their own medicine. Why thank you my Nightingale for your insightful comment. Yes, the human sex trafficking involving children is more profitable to the cartels than the illicit drugs. I hold our corrupt politicians on this side of our non-borders just as liable as the terrorist cartel members. They are all in league with the devil— damn them all!
Truth is reality and the truth remains the same for the eyes that can see and for ears that can hear. Wisdom recognizes truth that will set us free on the path of solving what seem to be insurmountable problems.
“Senseless” abstract narratives and theories only lead to dead-headed thinking and more “self-induced”problems without any solutions. Pride goeth before the fall is real truth!

Common sense, empiricism, and logic are dying arts. Special interests are invitations to pander for votes, and no interest is too special. Sister Justice no longer wears a blindfold. We do. And we put it on right after we handed the henhouse keys to the foxes.
