Dr. Robert Bornhofen is a practitioner-scholar with over 25 years of experience. His corporate career includes Fortune 500 companies IBM, Delta Air Lines, & Citibank. Most recently at IBM, Dr. Bornhofen managed a global innovation program that led to 11 impactful prototype projects in 2018. Among his career accomplishments was creating a first-to-market e-commerce product. For this, he holds two patents with the U.S. Patent & Trade Office. As an Adjunct Professor, Dr. Bornhofen currently teaches Corporate Strategy at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Prior teaching positions include the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and Cedim, a product design & innovation school in Monterrey Mexico. As a researcher and author, Dr. Bornhofen has published over 20 papers on topics related to innovation strategy. Dr. Bornhofen earned his Doctorate degree at the University of Maryland, University College, a Master of Science degree from Colorado State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. He holds a certificate in International Business as part of an Executive Development Program at the Thunderbird School of International Management in Scottsdale Arizona. As a conference speaker, Dr. Bornhofen presents at industry forums, most recently at the Strategy & Innovation Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2017); International Open and User Innovation Conference at the NYU Stern School of Business (2018), and the Texas Open Innovation Conference (2017 & 2018).
