Peggy S. Bud

Peggy Bud, Founder of Speaking Skillfully, is a distinguished communication expert, accomplished author, and TEDx speaker dedicated to helping professionals and families master the art of effective communication. Through tailored coaching and training, she empowers business leaders to build high-performing teams and supports families of children with special needs in navigating the education system. Focusing on verbal, vocal, and nonverbal communication, Peggy equips professionals with the skills needed for impactful conversations, active listening, and perspective-taking. Her personalized sessions foster open dialogues, enhance collaboration, and teach how effective conversations drive successful communication. Drawing from over 30 years of experience as a licensed speech-language pathologist and school administrator, Peggy bridges the gap between families and schools, facilitating teamwork across educational teams. She helps build robust home-school partnerships and guides families to be an effective advocate for their child through data-driven conversations. As co-author of Conversations Lead to Consensus and Navigating Special Education, Peggy introduces the 5-C Model of Communication, a framework designed to help clients have meaningful conversations and work collaboratively and cooperatively toward consensus. Using this tool, she teaches the importance of having open dialogues where all voices are heard. Her clients come from diverse fields including healthcare, law, finance, marketing, insurance, engineering, and education. She delivers customized talks and training sessions at national conferences, women’s summits, rotary clubs, libraries, and more. In addition to her work with Speaking Skillfully, Peggy serves on the boards of a charter school and a Nature Conservancy. She is also Director of Recruitment for The Financial Executives Consulting Group and a leadership team member of The Financial Executives Networking Group. Peggy holds a B.S. from Indiana University and an M.S. and 6th-year Certificate in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.
