John Christian
John C. Christian is a native of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, grew up in the Carolinas and Florida, and now lives in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area on Caesars Head Mountain in the western Carolinas. He is an honors graduate in Southern History from Jacksonville University, also attending Florida State College and the University of North Florida. He is a freelance writer of short stories, book reviews, and essays. His works have appeared in Charleston Magazine, The Charlotte Observer, The State, The Florida Times Union, Book Page, The Post and Courier, and Esquire Magazine. His short stories have won awards at Writer's Digest Magazine and Bristol University, UK. His characters portray ordinary people with family bonds who sometimes find themselves in situations that test their human endurance. They are almost always faced with change and occasional impending loss, but their spirit attempts to search for brightness. Even in the face of tragedy, there is occasional humor. Perhaps they have not so much rejected the American dream, but have devised their own version of it.
