JJ has been in law enforcement for over twenty-one years and is a major crimes detective, and Adjunct Professor teaching Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. She holds a B.A., B.S., and an M.A. in Forensic Psychology. JJ is also a survivor of domestic partner gun violence, and shares her story to educate and bring awareness to intimate partner violence within the LGBTQ community. Outside her professional career, JJ’s passion is in writing. She is hoping to have her debut poetry series titled “Love Letters & Pocket Knives” published soon, and is also working on a Memoir. Besides writing, she’s a fitness enthusiast and has competed in women’s bodybuilding, powerlifting, and boxing.
