Janie Lidey

Janie Lidey is a dynamic speaker, best selling author, Emmy winning songwriter and Grammy-winning music educator. In 2017, Janie was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. When the doctors told her it was incurable, Janie told them that didn’t work for her. In addition to the surgery, radiation, and medication prescribed by her doctors, Janie began the process of radiating hope into her mind, body, and spirit. Just five months after the diagnosis, Janie was cancer free! She is using her miracle story and inspirational music to infuse hope, love, and light into her audiences. While taking the year off to heal, Janie wrote her new book and companion CD, “Radiating Hope ~ Cancer Unplugged”. This project has become Janie’s vehicle for helping people see that whatever challenges they are facing in their lives can be harnessed as blessings and lead them to their miracles. Janie has lived in Alaska for over thirty years. She taught music in eight remote, fly-in-only villages; was the choir director and guitar teacher at a high school in Anchorage for seventeen years; was a forklift operator for a salmon fishery in Bristol Bay (where she occasionally sang and played her guitar in the saloon during fish closures); skied double black diamond, expert-only ski runs; paraglided off Hatcher Pass; ran a Segway tour business around Lake Hood and built her own log home with her husband, Sean, where they have lived together with their son, Tristan, for nearly twenty years.
