Caryl Bowman

I walked away from the corporate world to pursue my many passions and gifts. Alas, procrastination caught up with me with its pestering, guilty ways. I overcame to create an exciting solopreneur journey that swings on a pendulum of sweeping experiences - from customer service training to a career that circuitously transitioned into Caryl Bowman Counselling, Coaching & Consultancy to serve primarily victims and survivors of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse as a Certified Counselling Practitioner and Certified Life Coach. I’ve found my purpose here. Others too have benefitted from well-being and resilience interventions. I am a bridge for women. My journey with the women opened up new supporting roles as a podcaster on Anchor, a playwright, and a relationship game developer. Before the women, there was my love and passion for empowering the youth. First, there was the Mazala Children’s Theatre as the founder and director; a neighbourhood group that dramatized children and societal issues of the day. Then, woo-hoo! A new era boomed the upsurge of after-school programs in Belize. More than a decade of work with the youth effectuated the founding of the Literacy For Life Foundation in 2011. Destiny showed up in some rewarding, meaningful ways. I was the major actress of the university play ‘Legacies’ written by my former professor, the internationally renowned and award-winning playwright Dr. Tess Onwueme. I am a Fulbright Scholar. I was my dear Mom’s primary caregiver while she battled the dreaded, devastating Alzheimer’s disease. Building People Movement commissioned me to write the book ‘Building Healthy Relationships’ and the historic Belizean play Woman! Know Your Rights! This play speaks about the dynamics, laws, and protocols of domestic violence, and is used as an educational tool in the education system of Belize. ‘Building Healthy Relationships’ is also an educational tool that teaches education in the values of peace and character development for primary school students. There were setbacks that set up my success. The realization of life events resides in the guardianship of this tenet and it is this: It is not events but our beliefs about them that cause our suffering. When you dissolve the meaning you give the events and the transition breaks in your life, you end your suffering.
