HOW ARE YOU DOING with the goals you set at the beginning of the year? Are you still as enthusiastic and motivated as you were Jan. 1st, or have you given up?
A principle that has assisted me greatly in my personal life and my business, is to set goals you are passionate about. Typically, people set new years goals and resolutions, and by the third week of Jan. they have given up. This is an indication they were not passionate about the goal in the first place.
When you choose a goal you are passionate about, it raises the level of commitment. Picture yourself having reached the goal. Visualize what you are doing, how you feel, what has changed in a positive way as a result. Take time to visualize this every single day, it will assist you with the self motivation to keep going when challenges arise. It gives you a sense of excitement which keeps you self motivated. Change your self talk to the future self you are creating.
Another great exercise to commit to daily, is to make a list of the wins you have had each day that are bringing you closer to your goal. This is a powerful exercise because you can clearly see the progress you are making, no matter how small that may be.
Successful people have learned to master this concept, and then take consistent action towards their goals. They do not let anything get in the way of the achievement of the goal. They are laser focused, and do not buy their own excuses, and realize that challenges, forks in the road, adversities, etc., are simply part of the process. Instead of giving up at the first sign of challenge, successful people find opportunities within the challenge and push through with the belief and confidence they will reach their goals.
When you learn to make your desires (your goals) stronger than any circumstances that come up, and keep taking progressive actions towards your goals despite those challenges or excuses you have sold yourself in the past, you start living the life you truly desire.
