Why do I write about the Natural World? Do I fear a loss of inspiration and ultimately topics that let my mind drift into another world; a Parallel Universe of Beauty and color, to be transported to a dream of fantasy?
My heart sings sighting trees; masterpieces. In many ways, so superior. We look up at them and they look down upon us; but not in an arrogant manner; they hold out their branches in empathy; strong and gentle giants, but not projecting fear, but love, if only to be recognized.
Now it is the dawn of Springtime when trees are in vivid conversation as their communication system below ground joins as one to celebrate the joy of opening their arms to greet Mother Nature.
I invite you to join me for a walk leading heart and soul to paradise that is Nature. To be at one with Nature. Not only as an observer but being part of a greater interpretation of the natural world. Every living element has a part to play in Nature’s theatre of life. Trees, flowers, and all that is witnessed have some form of cooperation. Bees gathering honey spread for the pollination of flowers. Honey is a spin-off.
The vista opens up upon a gently flowing river. Springtime colors reflected in its waters. Walking close to the river bank; another dimension. The water; so deep, with a chalk base gathers branches, trunks, and leaves. So deep that even clouds are visible, seemingly above such reflections. Infinity. Let the heart wander around such scenic beauty. Sounds. Birds of many varieties. Regal swans bless us with their grace and regality. The scent is so fresh it remains with you forever. A memory of Mother Nature’s gift to humanity.
The river leads us alongside a hill with a copse of trees projecting glee at Spring’s arrival. We walk around the hill and ultimately to an avenue of trees, so spectacular a tree-hug in thanks is called for. We hug wide tree trunks. Such is the harmony projected, received, and transmitted that tree-hugging is an activity that brings about an angelic smile.
The views are spectacular, embracing distant scenes, valleys, and rolling hills. Trees, magnificent clouds, and blue sky join to bless the heart. The feeling envelops the heart and spirit. The Universe is as one. We are embraced by Nature’s Angels to sing in happiness, to spread the word of Nature’s Glory.
We continue walking alongside the River Itchen, onward to Winchester’s center to be immersed in history. Rivers, hills, Water Meadows, and pristine countryside literally minutes from the city center. Always a magnet to those appreciating what we are receiving from Mother Nature.
I trust the walk revealed and vitalized love o Nature and all that she has to offer, releasing imagination and joy, enhanced by a double espresso (rocket fuel!) and lemon sponge cake at the Handlebar Cafe, overlooking the River Itchen, and surrounded by wonderful trees, so close on the balcony as they observe us enjoying a surreal, peaceful moment; or lifetime.
Simon, I love this. Thank you for sharing

The Inner Child in me salutes the Inner Child in you! Namaste!
Dear Myriam,
Your comments are a truly delight. Trees and plants are living and opening one’s heart to them creates a unique empathetic sensation. I just love your last sentence, ‘The Inner Child in me salutes the Inner Child in you.’ And Namaste to you too, Myriam. Made my evening.
