It looks like the Senate’s draft of a new health care bill is another miss-fire. The Senate can only lose two Republican votes if they are to pass a bill and by the last count, five Republican Senators said they wouldn’t support the pending bill. The House version was a DOA (Dead on Arrival) at the Senate. Neither version had much support at the White House level, with Trump saying he wanted a bill with more heart.[su_spacer]
So now, with the Republicans having a base of power in both houses and the executive branch they can’t come up with a plan to replace the ACA that they can all agree on. What do we pay these people to do? Of course, we should in fairness remember that the ACA (Obamacare) was passed by the Democrats only because no one was allowed to read it first. Even many of the Democrats that voted for it now say privately that had they know what was in it, they wouldn’t have supported it. But, like good lackeys, they followed the party dictates as expressed by Pelosi and Reed and blindly voted for it. Then Obama signed it, also without knowing just what was in it, to be a part of his legacy.[su_spacer]
What is wrong with the existing plan and the ones proposed? I don’t think it is hard to define. All those plans were created by elected and appointed bureaucrats that don’t have a clue as to what the health care problems are in this country, much less how to fix them. I know it is a radical idea, but what about getting some people from the various facets of the health care venue to create a plan that works?[su_spacer]
Why not get a couple of key people from the insurance field, a couple of doctors, one primary care and one a specialist, a couple of pharmaceutical representatives and a sampling of those representing seniors, retail drug stores, labs, the VA, and medical hardware? Then perhaps we do what the Catholic Cardinals do when they need a new pope. We lock these people in a room and they don’t come out until they create a workable health care plan.[su_spacer]
Perhaps Trump could re-hire Comey to affirm that locking them in is lawful, or at least not worth turning over to the AG. After all, he let Hillary and others off the hook. Okay, color me a radical conservative.
