And then came Autumn when trees succumbed to the changing light, colorful leaves with their wardrobe took flight.
A fluttering dance of release to remember, as shorts became sweats and fans became cloaks.
Minutes of light golden leaves now lost to the dark gentle sleep.
Short minutes are stripped from hours of laughter and play, now softened to a peep.
I awake to hear the church bells ring; a favorite among many other things.
Alarms and windchimes harmonize, and dreams are washed away from eyes.
Train whistle gives me hope somehow; days long past are replaced with now.
Now is the time to light all the candles, pack away favorite t-shirts and sandals.
Await I shall, for earth to change from green to brown; when a dusting of snow will bring crisp white sound.
For every season brings a song of praise to those who listen.
Soon Autumn leaves of red and gold will change into a glisten.
Walk with me along the trail of change as hues turn deep with magic and frost lines the windowpane.
Bring out warm and cozy sweaters and gloves to warm the hands.
Dance into the firelight with brand new future plans.
And The Came Autumn
