We kicked off our four-week writing workshop, Finding Your Voice, in grand style last Thursday. The next session takes place this Thursday, March 25, at 12:30 p.m. EDT. While the workshop is filled up this time around, I’ll happily offer it again, at no charge, for the next five people who email me at [email protected]. First come, first served.
During our session last week, I shared the fact that, after I’ve written something, I walk around and read it aloud. If I can hear the music in it — if I can feel the rhythm of it and hear the right notes — I know it’s okay. If the rhythm stumbles a bit — or if the notes sound a little discordant — I’ll revise it until the piece finds its harmony.
Whether you’re in the workshop or not — whether you choose to be or not — this video will help you find the music in your own writing:
Awesome Mark! Thanks. Stepping outside now. Got other tasks than writing today – your words fit exactly for this stuff too.
thanking you –
blessings,
Cynthia
Thank you, Cynthia. Every little bit helps. 😊
Love the whiteboard animation to help me ketcha groove back. Talking a walk helps. Most times I like to walk away, even after I feel comfortable with what I wrote. When I pick it up again I see it with fresh eyes.
Uh oh. You better be careful, Yvonne. You might end up being a writer. 😉
