Action Generates Perfection – Inaction Leads To Oblivion

SUCCESS MATTERS

Brave soldiers win battles because they keep preparing even when at peace. They keep working on their fighting skills and keep their weapons well-oiled for they know that when time comes to fight they will not have the time to prepare.

It is these brave soldiers and their constant preparedness that determines the outcome of sudden conflicts and saves millions of lives against evil forces. All their preparedness can be summed up in one simple word – ACTION.

Actions you take in everyday life, whether it be saving a part of your income for the rainy day or helping your kids decide on their choice of University courses, the type of car you want to drive or the locality where you would want to live with your family and so on and so forth, these are all the actions that contribute in a big way to the family’s financial as well as social status.

Action with a focus, powered by the combined forces of commitment and intellect is what leads to gradual success in any endeavour. It is the continuation of these actions and a total devotion to the goal that leads to perfection bit by bit by bit.

The steps you take in accomplishing a task, any task, ultimately determine the result. So long as you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, the next best step forward is to take an inventory of your capabilities as also additional demands on your resources that might be needed on the way to accomplishing this goal.

Not only does positive action help you immensely in the event of a critical reflection, it also saves you from the ignominy of undue reaction to the naysayers’ narrow-mindedness.

No matter how conceited your goal, stay on your course and make sure that your moves, even the smallest ones, are all pointed in the direction of this singular objective.

Let us learn a lesson from this old Peruvian proverb: “Little by little one walks far.” What is evident from this proverb is basically the forceful argument of continuous action. We have all heard the old dictum: “Rome was not built in a day.”

All said and done, we all know that more challenging tasks need a little longer time frame and the demand to accomplish them is always higher than for the simpler ones. “From small beginnings come great things.” It is only when you start to move in a given direction that you will be able to get anywhere. These small steps, that you take towards your goal, no matter how lofty it may be, will surely shorten the distance between yourself and the destination. The closer you get to your destination, the stronger and more committed you will feel.

As a matter of fact, most people even forget to act when the time comes and are left out of the race because they never thought they could be called upon to act in a particular way at a given time. They are seldom ready when the time comes and are thus left out of the race.

If only these individuals had taken note of different things happening in their own life cycle and anticipated further demands on their decision-making skills, they would have been better prepared for necessary action when the time came to act.

Action, rather continued action, prepares you for perfection whereas inaction keeps you away from advancement and thus causes downfall. Don’t we all know the old adage:

“Always keep moving because if don’t, you will get run over even if you were on the right track”.

In order to keep your lifestyle in perfect synchronization with your life, you need to make necessary amends and work on things that are the most important for the long term.

If you didn’t, you will be left out of the race. What can be a more forceful warning than the fact that the tomorrow you have always been dreaming about is less than 24 hours away? It is these 24 hours in which you have to do what all you had been thinking of doing in order to secure your tomorrow and if you did not do it now, you will never get the chance to do it again, period.

No matter how you look at life, there will always be newer demands created on your time as well as on your resources. What remains to be seen is how you address these demands and what you do in advance to prepare for those demands before they become a challenge. What it all boils down to is the action that you take now, which will determine how you are going to face a situation tomorrow.

The combined total of your ACTION, COMMITMENT & INTELLECT will dictate the degree of PERFECTION!!!

  1. Great Article to Start the day with. Often we pause at that last moment. Some of us will step through the open door others never cross the threshold thus abandoning their quest for success. Some of us take that action you so elegantly speak of and enjoy great success.

  2. Long term goals are very difficult to obtain. They seem imaginary, not real, a dream. What we do every day and every week feels a lot more real, more important, more impactful. To achieve the imaginary, we must root ourselves in our daily regimes, drastically changing what we do on a day to day basis. Then put that on a schedule.

    • Thank You Chris Pehura for your excellent input.

Dreams are well recognized as the catalyst for growth through challenges. Though difficult at times, it is definitely not impossible to achieve your long-term goals and I am a living example.

It is the minor changes towards improvement, your focused drive in pursuit of excellence that help you break out of the box and create an impact.

  3. Another intriguing article Bharat…….. great insights.. Thank you.

I love your punch line, “The combined total of your ACTION, COMMITMENT & INTELLECT will dictate the degree of PERFECTION!!!”

Oh yes, we all know that it is that single extra one degree that turns hot water into something that is powerful. It is that little extra that brings about success. Quote
“At 212 degrees, it boils, and with boiling water, comes steam, and steam can power a locomotive. That One extra degree…makes all the difference.”

That one extra degree of effort in business and in life… separates the good from the great and certainly determines the degree of perfection one strives for.

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” Vince Lombardi

    • You have really no idea Jonathan, my Dear Friend, how much I missed you all through the past week on the Hot Seat! Now, that you are finally here, I must admit I admire your highly intelligent observations beyond belief. This one is no exception.

I only try to share what I know for a fact that worked in my own life. Different individuals have varied experiences while living through their own unique challenges. So, I try to appreciate and admire the general principles for larger benefit.

Your above analogie should be Trade Marked as it makes a direct impact even on the stauchest non-believers. I say this from experience.

Thank You my Friend and God Bless!
