These last 10 weeks have been enlightening, informative, tumultuous, frustrating, and confusing. Especially if you have been paying close attention to the daily news feed and the flimflam politics being practiced by some of our governing bodies.
Fear, Scarcity, Contradictions, Discomfort, in equal parts, sprinkled with the occasional dose of Hope, Compassion, Love, and Kindness.
You might say that this is merely a projection of what ‘normal’ life is all about? To which I reply, ‘normal’ never cut the mustard. The last few weeks have shown me another truth that the missing ingredient, which helps put all this into perspective and make the whole that much more palatable is ACCEPTANCE.
A typical path that unfolds along our journey of personal development is that we set out to uncover our own assumptive limitations. We struggle to first identify and then pinpoint their inception. After this comes the need to overcome or even remove that which we perceive is blocking us from realising our next stage of evolution. When in actuality acknowledging and noticing is all we need to create seismic change. Be mindful that our continual striving for more means that we don’t take the time to appreciate who and what we are now.
Remove the unnecessary pressure both externally but especially internally and remember that we are all travelling on this journey at our own pace, that small changes make big ripples and through the process of accumulation, will create that sought-after impact.
Only when we allow comparison to distort our vision by shifting the focus away from ourselves, do we begin to divert from our true path. Many of us look outside and see what we do not have and wish that we could attain those same skills, gifts, possessions. Without having the insight to see that what we already have within us is unique and special and most importantly will always be enough.
Accepting and appreciating what and who we truly are and letting that which no longer serves us fall away, rather than trying to add what we see in others, is the answer, my friends. Taking time to disassemble and remove unhelpful patterns and behaviours then with equanimity rebuilding oneself, without any of that previous heaviness which unbeknownst or not, always seemed to weigh us down. So all that remains is the wondrous centre of our core being, our truSELF.
Acceptance is also about being open to all things, to receiving what is forthcoming, and choosing ultimately what to incorporate, what to simply listen to, and what to let pass by. There are many voices out there trying to guide you, the only one you really need to connect with is the one which comes from inside.
As we all take time to pause, we can start to feel, to notice, to remember, to enhance our self-awareness, and also optimise our presence. Through stillness, we appreciate silence and through silence, we acknowledge the power of listening. When we listen to our heart, we understand the true purpose and the perception shift begins to unfold.
The secret is to simply allow, too many of us are too much in our heads, trying to discern meaning, trying to define or comprehend an answer, when really accepting that which is and believing in the flow which comes to us and supports us, whilst also learning to trust in our own intuition, in our own knowing is all that is required of us to grow.
Acceptance of your fears and acknowledgment of all your feelings is key, they are real, don’t deny them or shy away from them, merely sit with them and be with them and hold that same space for others when you are able.
Remember you are in control do not allow this to change, if you notice an imbalance in yourself, typically characterised by increased anxiety, emotions, stress, simply return to SELF. Through breathing, mindfulness, stillness, and meditation, catalysed by reconnection to nature, you will once again find your equilibrium and equanimity.
Here dwells your truSELF.
After acceptance comes action. Move forward. Step by step, day by day, and look for the beauty way in all things; in the Sun, the Rain, the Wind, the Moon, the Stars, the Earth, and the Heavens.
You are stronger than you think you are, all of this shall pass…
