Many do not realize that there are beings given to us as the beginning of conception, “Guardian Angels” What is a Guardian Angel?  Let me explain.

I’d like to share a true event of (I believe when my guardian angel was there for me) while on a traffic stop late one night at the end of my shift.

It was near 11 p.m. and I was headed back to the station, the end of swing shift.  I was stopped at a traffic light, when a car just blew past me, blowing the red light, into the intersection without regard for cross traffic.  Looking over to the driver on my other side in his car seeing the exact same thing, looked at me as if to say”, well, what are you going to do?  I threw on my rotators, (lights and sirens) and proceeded to go into a pursuit to make the car stop, but the vehicle made a U-turn and ended up heading for the on-ramp of the 55 Frwy.  I followed the vehicle onto the Frwy and suddenly the vehicle pulled over just on the entrance to the overpass. I could see the driver and a passenger. I could see the driver disappear for a minute then his silhouette appeared again.

As I exited my unit and felt something over my shoulder, I heard a voice that said, get to the back your unit.  I did, and at the same time called for a backup.  Within minutes the backup arrived, and we approached the vehicle, pulling out the driver and the passenger, only to find a fully load ed 38 revolver ready to go, on the vehicle floorboard, drivers’ side. Remembering (the way my training officer Mad Dawg) had taught me), to secure the scene, conduct a vehicle search, and get the offenders secured.

The passenger told me that if I had come up to the driver’s door, he was prepared to shoot me.

The driver was booked for DUI (driving under the influence); along with the passenger, and as they were booked into custody, I had a conversation with the passenger, “What was going on in the vehicle before we stopped them” I asked.  This is what he said.  The passenger, home on leave after 6 months, had come home to find his wife with someone else.  Drinking and grabbing his firearm and calling on his friend the passenger to take a drive, they proceeded to drive into our city, and the drive was bent on killing the first officer that, (if stopped), would be shot.  It didn’t help that I was also a female, a reflection of his marital situation.  The passenger told me that if I had come up to the driver’s door, he was prepared to shoot me. The action that I saw prior to the stop by the driver was him leaning forward and waiting for me to approach.  I believe that the voice I heard was the voice of my guardian angel.  Inside my vest, I always wore a St. Michael’s medal, one of the (3) Archangels, St. Michael who fought with Satan prior to Satan’s fall from grace.

Some may never see with their earthly eye’s guardian angel. But a guardian angel is with us through our life and into the eternal.  I know that there are many out there who do not believe in guardian angels, but they are real. They are mentioned throughout the Bible, i.e.; Hagar who was pregnant with Abrahams’s firstborn, fleeing with her son Ishmael, born to Abraham through Hagar.  Hagar runs away from Abraham and Sarah’s house because of the cruel treatment.  The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur.  The angel asks Hagar, “where have you come from and where are you going?” The angel directs her to return to Abraham and Sarah and promises that God will increase the descendants of Ishmael so much that they will be numerous.

Angel of God my guardian dear, to whom God’s love entrust thee here,
Ever this day be at our side to light to guard to rule and guide.

As a tribute to my Guardian Angel, I painted the image below.  It is not quite done.

A work in progress.
