Think to your last office party. Was there alcohol available and did anyone enjoy too many drinks—to their detriment? You might have even thought differently about a person that drank too much—especially if they were in a position of authority.
But what companies can do to help their employees and still have events that are fun and relaxed is to have company policies that directly address drinking, responsibility, and expectations. And then you can put that policy into practice at the event itself. That means having food and limiting alcohol in some manner, too—either by just giving a few drinks for each person or having non-alcoholic drinks available too. And the responsibility and policy is especially important for the management of your company. They must be able to follow the rules and show people how to make what’s written into practice. This graphic offers even more examples to follow.
