There is a secret that many of the world’s most successful and inspiring people know. That secret is that whether you want to increase your income, meet your soul mate (or transform your current relationship) or hit any other goal in any area of your life…Your mindset will either make or break your success.
Your internal belief system about who you are, what you are capable of and what you think you deserve will either:
- Quantum leap you towards your goals at light speed, or
- Keep you stuck in the present, hoping and wishing for a different reality
Here is something else to consider…Very few people are born with a “success mindset!” Most people have to work to cultivate it.
Here are 5 quick fixes you can make starting today that will help you to cultivate a success mindset that will help propel you forward instead of keeping you stuck:
Mindset Shift #1: Be willing to learn something new
Always be learning. Put yourself in some kind of structured learning program, like a personal coaching program, foreign language classes or even sign up for a series of dance classes. When your course runs out, find something else that looks interesting to you and put yourself into it.
Being committed to learning and trying new things on an ongoing basis will keep your brain-stimulating and forward-thinking – plus it is great for increasing your level of self-confidence! In addition, our brains are designed to create new neurons on a regular basis, which keeps our brains healthy, but only if you challenge it to do so by opening up new neurological pathways.
Mindset Shift #2: Surround yourself with people that believe that anything is possible
Just like the saying “You are what you eat,” you are also who you spend most of your time with. Spending time with positive-minded people who believe that life is what you make of it will help to remind you that the only limits in life are the ones you set for yourself. This is an important mindset to have if you want to stretch yourself to reach new and exciting goals that are outside of your current comfort zone.
Mindset Shift #3: Consider turning off the TV
It can feel great to turn on the TV and sit back, relax and unwind after a long day…But it’s SO easy to get sucked into watching it for hours without even realizing where the time has gone! And what’s wrong with that, you may ask?
Research has shown that prolonged television watching actually slows your brain activity, even after you have turned the TV off!
To keep your brain happy, healthy, and firing on all cylinders, try to limit your TV time to an hour (maybe two) a day if you can.
Mindset Shift #4: Be good to your body
Remember that saying “healthy body, healthy mind”…? Well, it is so true!
Drinking tons of water and eating healthy “live” foods (like salads and uncooked vegetables for example) have been shown to increase brain function, which of course will lead to greater creativity, flow, and productivity. So never skip breakfast, hydrate regularly, and aim to eat at least one fresh “live” meal each day to make sure you are putting good fuel into your body.
Mindset Shift #5: Have a plan
What are you working towards? Have an end goal. Know what you want, why you want it and then you can figure out to get it!
Set three large goals and also set mini-goals to work towards each month. Set goals, work towards them and then remember to acknowledge and reward yourself once you reach them.
If you espouse the five suggestions above you will be more likely to enjoy success in what you do in all aspects of your life!
