Many of us love sports. For a long time, it has always been accompanying a man and is firmly established in his life. Some of his species have changed a lot since they were created. But one thing hasn’t changed. Some sports have been and remain the privilege of successful and rich people. We’ll tell you about real sports for aristocrats. Maybe you can join it a long time ago, just did not know about it.
1 Golf
A little bit of history: in fact, the main today’s game of millionaires originated in the 15th century, and it was invented by Scottish shepherds. But three hundred years later golf passed into the hands of high society, and the first tournament was held one hundred years later. The essence of the game is for a player to pass a certain number of holes (usually 18) in a certain order. There may be various obstacles on the course: bushes, trees, sand embankments, small, very shallow lakes. In addition to the basic rules, there is a so-called golf etiquette, for violation of which you will not get penalty points, but certainly, look obliquely. The charter includes issues of safety, honesty, and the safety of the course.
2 Crockett
The analogue of golf, but with minor modifications. The main goal is also to lead the ball through a 32 by 25-meter course, but not through holes, but through small arches, where there is a small spike, which must be touched. One of the two sides, the first to bring its ball to the center, wins.
3 Tennis
Just like golf, it wasn’t originally born as a game of the rich and famous. The game was invented in the 11th century in various European monasteries. According to the original rules, the ball was struck by hand, then there were special bats. And already in the 16th century, which was the peak popularity of the game (royal families took the game for themselves), there were the usual rackets and net. Today is still considered a game for rich people because the equipment is worth a lot of money.
4 Sailing
The history of sailing, shipping and shipbuilding is about six thousand years. Originally shipping was a necessity, but at the end of the XV century a special branch of sailing with special vessels – yachts, which were intended for competitions or sailing for pleasure – was formed. The first mention of yachting was in the Dutch-Latin dictionary in 1599, so the Netherlands is considered the ancestor of sailing. The first document on amateur sailing dates from April 19, 1601, and was an application for permission to sail from Vlissingen to London. The first registered sailing race was held in England on October 1, 1661. The other day, Dmitri Ryblovlev‘s crew unexpectedly won ClubSawn 50, which only confirms the subject of our article.
5 Football
Today is a game of millions, about which there is nothing to tell anyone because probably there is no person who does not know the rules of this sport. However, the history of its emergence is more than interesting. Everyone knows very well that England is the home of football. But few people know that the rules were born in college dormitories. The main roster of players was formed by the number of people who lived in one room. The popularity of football was so high that each college had its own team. The disagreement was only one point: some schools allowed you to drive the ball with your hands, others did not. A single set of rules was adopted in 1846, and in 1857 founded the first professional football club “Sheffield”. Six years later, the rules were slightly edited. The last changes were made in 1891 when the rule of the penalty shootout was adopted.
